On a recent trip from Cancale to Paris, we found ourselves in need of a place to rest after a long day of hiking and indulging in Cancale's famous oysters. It was late, and options for high-rated accommodations were few. However, we came across CHATEAU DU BOULAY MORIN, an old French-style chateau just a few kilometers from the highway, listed on Booking.com. The chateau is located in a serene rural area, tucked behind a long stone fence and vintage-style gates. We arrived late without prior notification, and with our internet data exhausted, we were anxious about whether the staff would still be available to check us in. To our relief, the gates swung open at the press of a button, welcoming us into a silent and magical retreat. The property is nestled within roughly 40 hectares of well-maintained forest and 3 hectares of beautifully manicured gardens. The quiet ambiance, paired with the charm of the chateau's exterior, immediately gave us a sense of calm and tranquility. We were warmly greeted by a receptionist who, despite our late arrival, went above and beyond to ensure our comfort. He even managed to arrange some food for us, knowing that we had missed our dinner. The interior of the chateau exudes a cozy, if somewhat outdated, charm, reminding more of a family home than a typical hotel, adding to the unique experience. In the morning, we learned that the property is managed by the young children of the owners. The elder, a former lawyer, shared the captivating history of the chateau and their family as they served us a delicious breakfast. The personal touch and stories made us feel like we were guests in a family home rather than customers in a hotel, giving our stay an intimate and friendly atmosphere. This quaint chateau may not boast the glitz and glamour of a typical 4 or 5-star hotel, but it offers a uniquely charming experience that leaves an indelible mark on your memory.

Breakfast and hot coffee alfresco on the private patio. Abundance of stars at night. Sheets and towels were sumptuous and smelled amazing 🤩 Bed could not have been more comfortable. Such a great experience!

Everything was great - the house is surrounded by nature, perfect for a getaway. The decoration is very thoughtful and the owner is very kind and helpful. The key exchange was made by box with code in our case, which was very practical and easy. We had a great time and definitely recommend!

Beautiful mansion, tastefully decorated rooms, everything looked fresh and new, friendly staff, wonderful breakfast, eco conscious (e.g. no separately packed products at the breakfast table, no little shampoo bottles etc.), central location in a lovely little town, pleasant beds, playroom for the kids, spa facilities. Great value, recommended!

Clos Celeste - Campagne d Etretat piscine et spa er staðsett í innan við 13 km fjarlægð frá Etretat-klettinum og 29 km frá Saint-Michel's-kirkjunni í Écrainville. friendly host, the property looks very nice, amazing hydrangea (it is worth visiting the location just to see the flowers); good breakfast, there was also a pool table available which we used and it was an enjoyable experience, great location to visit Etretat and surrounding areas.
