Hotel in Melbourne ( 1.9 miles)
Just 9 minutes’ drive from East Midlands International Airport, Melbourne View Hotel provides accommodations and bar. Close to download. Comfy beds. Delicious breakfast. Nice room
Great location to our final destination, reasonable price for what you get but carpet made the room so much older than it could’ve been. Really friendly welcoming receptionists both on arrival and exit!
Mainly spread along a busy road, a few decent size pubs along the way and one very large Marston eatery, and a curry house that does not have a drink licence, whatever next☹️. Had to get a drink, at the pub across the road, and take it in, then return the glasses later.🤔 Another couple of eateries down on the canal area. There is also a museum that tells you about the area, which I believe was once what they call an inland harbour. All in all, it's nice to walk round, have a meal and a beer here n there and, once away from the busy road, enjoy the canal walks.
A great place to stay if you are going to an event in Loughborough. Really well located. Easy to get to/from motorways and to the town. Clean, felt safe, value for money, warm welcome. Can park close to the room.
The reception is part of the bar, so it was unfortunate that we arrived seconds behind a 72 seater coach full of pensioners from Cheshire who were all gagging for a drink. I waited for 15 minutes to be checked in by someone who appeared to believe that I was a bit of an inconvenience when they were rather busy ACTUALLY. In the room, the kettle didn’t work unless you held the switch down, the fan didn’t work at all (it was a warm night), neither of the bedside lamps worked and the food was overpriced, so we went elsewhere for dinner because we have a policy that if staff can’t be bothered to give us good service, we can’t be bothered to spend more money in the hotel. It was only made acceptable because we were leaving at 4.00 am and we didn’t have to join an interminable queue for dinner or breakfast with the aforementioned coach party. I saw some pretty critical reviews, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. On this occasion, it was misplaced
The hotel is only a short walk to the airport which makes it ideal. We have stayed a number of times, normally we book in for a night before we travel and the car is parked for the duration of our trip, this is normally booked through Holiday Extras but I omitted to to book for our return night therefore did this through Booking.com. Only disappointment with this was I had to pay an extra £5 for parking that night of our stay.
We were visiting relatives who live in Shardlow and were lucky enough to be there when the Inland Port Festival was taking place. We had an excellent meal in the Clock Ware house and drinks. We enjoyed a drink at New Inn, The Malt Shovel and Shakespeare Inn. We had a walk along the canal and surrounding area. We had a canal boat trip which was really good. Our stay overall was wonderful.
