Smiling staff, family atmosphere. Even though we woke up late for breakfast for they prepared especially for us. If you are without a car - then you have nothing to look for in this hotel. If you're looking for peace and a view you won't forget - then you've come to the right place. Cleaned every day, everything we asked for they always wanted to help. If it was possible I would give them a score of 12. One of the places I enjoyed the most in Thailand.

For the price this place really exceeded our expectations. The room was detached so very quiet and the bed and bedding was all comfortable (nice to have 4 pillows!). Shower was powerful and hot and bathroom was very clean and modern. The large TV was a nice touch and also a bonus to have a hairdryer, toiletries, slippers and minibar which isn't always found in this price range.

kawthaung was my introduction to myanmar.
kawthaung was my introduction to myanmar. drove from phuket and spent a night in ranong before making the crossing by longtail boat - the boatmen are helpful with immigration paperwork. the harbour is hectic hot and at times bewildering. luckily we made a good choice in accommodation- mingalar is 3km away, up on a hill with a great view. place is very new and only has four rooms for rent, but the restaurant on top is superb for food and drink - great dishes, reasonable prices, superb view, great manager in Aung willing to go the extra mile to help and attentive staff. try the mingalar sunset cocktail (with mandalay rum) for something new. had some great runs round kawthaung on a tuk tuk taxi arranged by the hotel. will definitely come back
