Hotel La Perle offers air-conditioned accommodations in Saint-Louis. This condo hotel provides free private parking and a 24-hour front desk. Awesome welcome from the two guys at reception (Diouf and the other fellow whose name I missed). The double room we were booked into had an AC issue that they recognized as they brought us in, so immediately they moved us to a large apartment at no extra cost. Great AC. Lots of hot water. Nice firm beds. Blazing fast Internet (200 Mbps at night, a bit slower the next day). Breakfast was good Friendly morning and day staff. Nice pool though we didn't use it. Perfect location 25 minutes from the border at Diama. Had us park our motorcycle securely right in front. There is a fun bar 5 minutes down the road.

Fishing area interesting. Town ok for "transit/brief look". Hotel location poor - choose somewhere more central. I live in Gambia, so used to beggars / but mainly adults. Here LOTS of beggars, VERY persistent boys /
Saint Louis is a must see. However, you need to taylor your expectations. This was once a beautiful town under the French, but the senegalis don't maintain it, so expect crumbling houses and goats strolling the streets. Still you should see it and help them improve their tourism!
Saint Louis is a friendly town to spend a couple of days . the colonial district is atmospheric with a nice vibe . The beach side to the town is a working residential area for fishermen families so not the prettiest and does smell in parts but still worth an explore . A couple of kilometers further north in the direction of Mauritania the town gives way to pristine sand beaches . There is no shade just sea and sand .
The city is beautiful but seems abandoned. Hopefully, they will restore it in the near future so we can see its beauty again. There is also a lot of beggars in the street and it deteriorates the overall experience. You should be accompanied by a local to enjoy the city.
This is one of my worst hotel experience. The room where I lodged where very noisy. All the hotel staffers just do not care about the calmness and speak loudly from the yard. The breakfast was very basic. The owner seems cocky and racist. Truly dissapointing experience.
Saint-Louis has a completely different charm from the rest of Senegal. You can feel it in the air. It's a vibrant, but yet laid-back town on an island. Worth visiting if you like colonial architecture and good food and want to combine it with visits to some natural parks and reserves, including the UNESCO listed Djudj.
