Cumberland (0.7 miles from Greater Cumberland Regional Airport)
The Dacha. Cumberland vacation is a well-rounded recently renovated vacation home in Cumberland. The property features a spa and wellness center, seasonal outdoor pool, and outdoor play equipment. From the outside it looks a bit neglected BUT inside It is very modern , It was clean and comfortable. We arrived early so bumped into owner, he was completing the cleaning. Some provisions were in the huge fridge. Don't really want this to be a 'Didn't like section' as it wasn't a big deal and may be it's my age but there were remotes for just about everything and it wasn't obvious which remote did what. It could have done with some instruction indicating which did what. Blinds had remotes but some were next to the blinds so obvious but others were by the beds. Even room lights were not straight on off switches but had slides to vary light intensity. We spent some time picking a remote up and pressing to see what it did. I can image those less staid them me would love being able to remotely control things ,- I found it over complicated but as I said not really enough to call it a don't like'. It has outside area at the rear with some facilities and parking place accessed by a back lane. Owner a painter too and some of his work hung on the walls.

Cumberland is a quaint city with warm people. The shops are unique, family owned businesses. Summer is a bit warm to be walking around or at least our time there was. I would love to come back in the fall.
Being from NYC, we expected Cumberland to be quiet and slower-paced. While the city was both those things, there were still plenty of places to eat, fascinating historical sites to see, and tons of history to the area. We ate at "The Crabby Pig", "Texas Grillhouse" and "Puccini's". Each restaurant not only had great food, but the staff were super accommodating. Getting around town was easy, as everything is nearby (but a car is necessary for the more out-of-the-way spots.
Surrounded by beautiful mountains, Cumberland is full of history. I enjoyed walking through the old town, looking in the antique stores and simply enjoying the architecture of the old brick buildings. The casino which is close by is clean and lots of fun. Enjoyed a nice walk along their beautiful lake.
This property is getting threadbare. The staff is nice enough and it was quiet despite being part of a truck stop. The rooms are cramped. The television offerings scant. The breakfast was ok, but the dining area was too small to accommodate all of the guests. Like all too many lodgings in the covid, post-covid world, it is over-priced.
Cumberland is a great town that is just past its hey-day. While lacking in big city attractions, it has lots of small town charm. Be sure to stop by Curtis' Coney Island for a hot dog (or 3... they are small and delicious), Caporale's Italian Bakery for the best bread of your damn life (also highly recommend the pepperoni rolls) and D'Atri's Subs for lunch. Tap off your culinary Cumberland experience with a beer from Niners before you check out the views on Canal Place.
Loved the old building and comfortable rooms. Also convenient location, within walking distance to restaurants & train station. Parking behind the building was a plus, but the entrance to the lot needs major work. We had a car with low clearance and was impossible to exit the parking lot without scraping the bottom of the car. There was also ample street parking in front of the building.
