We were there in the winter, but had good luck with sunny weather and enjoyed exploring the village. We chanced on the annual Shimenawa ceremony at the Anori-jinga shrine, which brought many of residents of the town together. The house itself is very comfortable, with an open living room and a nice upstairs sleeping space with comfy futons. Fabulous deep tub, with a view. It felt wonderful to have a whole cabin to ourselves. We had a hard time finding the address, but the hosts (although not on site) were extremely quick to help us via Booking messages.

Located right by Chidorigahama Beach and featuring indoor/outdoor hot-spring baths, Resort Hills Toyohama Soranokaze offers Japanese and Western-style accommodations. The staff were very kind and knowledgeable. I wanted to go to the Yokohama Observatory (which is expensive and hard to reach by public transpo), but they offered a shuttle ride to a train station, and also told me about Shima City tourism’s taxi promo. Very helpful! Other than that, the room was bigger than expected. It had a small Japanese garden, which was a good touch. They also had a lot of fun facilities in the lobby.
