Set within 45 km of Bolivar Theatre and 46 km of Sucre Theatre in Machachi, Mateospaxi offers accommodation with seating area. Exceptional hospitality and kindness from Aracely. She was really helpful with giving us various option on how to get to Cotopax where to eat or get groceries. The village uat really small and vety calm and safe. We ended up taking the private tour to Cotopaxi which costed $65 for both if us and we like it a lot (the guide was great). Alternatively, you can walk down to the highway, flag a bus or hitchhiker to the entrance of the national park and then get a guide at the entrance of the park. When booking the rooms just beware that there are different houses, we ended up staying in the one not shown on the pictures by mistake, which was fine but we were a bit confused in the beginning haha The shower didn't work the first day, but they fixed it the day after so all good.

Casa del Montañero, a property with a garden, is set in Machachi, 39 km from Sucre Theatre, 40 km from Colonial Art Museum, as well as 40 km from El Ejido Park. Very peaceful area with plenty of common areas to sit. The owners are nice and very knowledgeable on all things nature related. Free hot water readily available. The BnB is close to the main square of Machachi. Nice kitchen in the cabin.

Hacienda El Porvenir by Tierra del Volcan is set in a traditional Andean house with adobe walls and thatched roofs. There is a restaurant, and breakfast is included. Food at the restaurant was stellar, great selection of typical Andean dishes to try at reasonable prices. Location was scenic and beautiful, lots of hikes to try and loved spending time with the llamas. Great place to relax, sit by the wood fire and reconnect with nature or loved ones. The spa was just what I needed to relax, worth it.

Situated in Chasqui, El Chasqui Guest House offers accommodation with a patio. This property offers access to a terrace, darts, free private parking and free WiFi. Beautiful property, modern and clean, the best we've stayed at during our trip in Ecuador. The host is amazing. Breakfast was big and delicious.

Situated in Lasso, La casa de los abuelos features accommodation with access to a garden. Free WiFi is provided throughout the property. Oh, my regrets of not booking this place longer. This was a wonderful location for my family. Safe, Secure, Clean, and Fun. Close to Cotapoxi for hiking and other outdoor adventures. Lovely place that the pictures of the dwelling do not do suffucicent justice. Plenty of space and washrooms. Even secure outdoor location for entertainment. Blankets are nice and warm. Really, book this place for a longer stay then we did.

Set in Machachi and only 38 km from Bolivar Theatre, Villa Victoria offers accommodation with mountain views, free WiFi and free private parking. Large, new, modern, well-appointed room set in a small garden behind a house (so it's quiet). Cleaned daily if you so wish. Very comfortable bed. Wifi is strong and shower is hot (two essentials for me!). The kitchen (containing the breakfast area) at the back of the garden is free to use, as is the washing machine in the laundry room. Bonus! Tania and her husband are a treasure trove of information regarding climbing the volcanoes in the area. In fact, when I mentioned Ruminahui, they (as keen hikers themselves) offered to take me to the start of the southern route. We climbed together for a while, after which they directed me to the summit. I got lost coming back (my fault!), but they waited more than two hours for me. Later, when I offered to pay, they said, 'It is a courtesy of the guesthouse.' A truly lovely couple. My experience in Machachi couldn't have been better thanks to them. One of the best places I've stayed in Ecuador. And I loved the ancient German Shepherd that greets you at the gate!

Right in the center; very clean, they give you towels, comfy beds, and the best is the staff, Victor is so helpful explaining the hikes, really worth every piece of advice.

Hostal Adventure Climbers offers rooms in Latacunga. Among the facilities at this property are a shared kitchen and a concierge service, along with free WiFi throughout the property. Great staff, kitchen, and hot showers. Probably the best hot shower and kitchen of any place I have stayed at. the stove is electric, so you don't need a match or lighter. Not normal, but I ended up getting my own cozy double for $5-$6 because I was traveling solo. Great advice for Quilotoa (which you can easily do on your own) and competitively priced tour of Cotopaxi. I actually stayed twice; before and after Quilotoa.
