We stayed four nights, with day trips to the Gangchon Rail Park, Alpaca World, and Nami Island. This place was recommended by friends and I'm so glad we decided to stay here. John and his wife were really kind and took very good care of us. Rooms were clean and neat. Hot water flowed freely during bathtime and we drank cold water straight from the tap. For the most part, we felt like we were visiting grandparents who kept feeding us. We skipped the Vivaldi Ski Park only to discover Pallbong-san was closed for the winter, but John got us four gimbap, brought us to a nearby service road up a small peak, and sent us on a short hike (that incline!). We still got to muck around in the mud and leaves on the way up. Our sons (9 and 7) enjoyed the outdoors, helping John build campfires, playing with his wife's dog, and generally just running around the property screeching like banshees and dipping into John's store of firewood and kindling as he looked on indulgently (city kids don't get campfires much). The charcoal barbecue most reviews mention was a highlight, as was (for me anyway!!) cooking kimchi ramyeon with actual kimchi in a pot on a stove in a proper pension in the Korean countryside. I saved the receipt from our trip to the mart to buy ingredients too, it's going into my journal. Thank you John and Mrs Lee for your hospitality, we will not forget it. p/s For runners, there's a short out and back - just follow the pavement that starts at one of the roads in front of the property (the road after the tunnel, you'll see when you get there) to the end. A round trip took us about 40+ minutes? We called it 6plus-7km. A pleasant enough route.

Terrace on the Cloud is located in Daegwallyeong and offers self-catering units with a terrace and free WiFi. A continental breakfast is available each morning at the holiday home. Howard the host made our stay very pleasant, there is nothing that he would not do to help us. I felt sorry for our friends that paid twice as much as us to stay at the resort and miss out experience that Howard was able to gave us.

Set in Sokcho and only 2.1 km from Mulchi Beach, Casa Seorak Bed and Breakfast offers accommodation with sea views, free WiFi and free private parking. We had a family vacation with two children. we liked this place very much. The owner is very responsive and kind person😍 Вrought breakfast to our room. The room has everything to prepare food. very clean and fresh.

A recently renovated property, Sokcho Summitbay 1701 "Ocean View" is set in Sokcho near Lighthouse Beach, Sokcho Culture Center and Yeongnangho. The view was just as amazing as in the pictures, the room was clean, and the bed was comfortable. I recommend it!

Situated in Pyeongchang, 46 km from Pyeongchang Olympic Plaza, Gilson Story Pension features accommodation with free WiFi and free private parking. The host was so welcoming and helpful! We felt so at home here.

Offering a garden and sea view, Fine and You Ocean City is set in Donghae, 200 metres from Hanseom Beach and less than 1 km from Gamchu Beach. Great small apartment right near the beach and 3 blocks from busy town area. You can cook and do laundry in the room and the hotel also has great coin laundry. The renter was quick to answer all our calls and concerns. I could rave about the beach boardwalk at night too. It helps to speak Korean at the local restaurants.

Featuring inner courtyard views and a garden, CHAEUL Pension is situated in the Bongpyeong-myeon district of Pyeongchang, 41 km from Pyeongchang Olympic Plaza and 2.4 km from Geumdang Valley. If you're looking for a pension within the mountains with a beautiful view as well as a very welcoming and accommodating host, I strongly recommend this place. The pension is directly facing Geumdang-Mountain and the valley, and the surroundings couldn't have been more pristine and peaceful. When I asked him for some recommendations regarding local taxi drivers through this app, he offered me to pick me up from Pyeongchang station without me asking for it. Right after pick-up, he gave me a tour of the area and also took me to a fantastic restaurant serving trout sashimi (송어회) when he found out that I hadn't eaten lunch yet. He also gave me a different room with a balcony without additional charges instead of the one I had booked when I told him that I came especially for the mountain view. Throughout my stay, he did his utmost to make my stay as enjoyable as possible. The room was clean, comfortable, and very spacious for a single person. If you travel alone, I recommend you book the "Rose/Jangmi" room (장미) - because the view from the balcony was as great as promised. But next time, I will certainly come back with friends, as he offers plenty of more soacious options as well as to grill for your bbq if you bring your own meet. While you should bring your own food, you can also buy water, beer and makgeolli from him for reasonable prices.
