Offering free WiFi, barbecue facilities and a sunny terrace, Colonial Lodge Motel is just 10 minutes’ drive from Oamaru Beach. It offers self-contained accommodation with a flat-screen TV and lovely garden views.

The layout was perfect for our family with separate bedroom and living room sleeping area. Easy and friendly check in. Slept great on comfortable bed. While nothing jumps out about the motel it delivered more than expected! Also Oamuru turned out to be the hidden gem of our trip! Super interesting town!

Looking for a cabin?

For active travelers, a chalet is a great mix of the outdoors and the snug inside. Usually fully furnished and with kitchen facilities, chalets are typically wooden and in the Alpine region of Europe, but can also be found other places in the world. Characterized by their sloped roofs, chalets can be single units or separate apartments, and are ideal for skiing vacations.

Beautifully situated in the Oamaru countryside with a great view from the door. The hut has a double bed, small table, sink, two ring hob and toaster and is more than sufficient for a few nights stay. The bathroom area has a shower, basin and a bamboo composting toilet which was absolutely fine with no smells at all. The owner provides alpaca food to feed the 3 alpacas and 2 sheep nearby to the hut. Overall our stay was excellent with a friendly, efficient owner, a pleasant hut with a great view. 5 out of 5 for our stay.

There was more in the cabin than we expected including linen and blankets, and towels, inside and outside chairs and table, bed light switches which made it easy for reading in bed and not having to get up to switch off!! The ammenities block was very tidy and clean, with plenty useable equipment in the kitchen.

Quirky and fun from the gypsy caravan shaped cabin to the alpacas and sheep that greet you every morning. We loved our stay here and feeding the critters was a delight.

The price was reasonable in the area. Really pleasant and helpful staff/owners. Older, but very clean, neat, and tidy accommodation. Probably the most comfortable bed during our whole trip. I hadn't expected our cabin to be serviced, but it was a pleasant surprise, even did our dishes, which I was going to do later!
