Lots if history and places to explore. Plenty of birds to find including the Chillagoe swiflet. The Hub is a must vist as it has a great interpretive display. Lots of information to be read but there is an simplified version aimed for children to read and learn. Lots walking trails, caves to visit and mining smelters are all in close proximity. Several places to eat out cater for the tourists.

Colin and Wendy we're so kind and welcoming. They fussed over us and made sure we had every comfort. They took time out to show us the local wildlife and helped us with advice about our stay. The property was lovely and we had everything we needed to feel at home all while enjoying a great adventure.

Chillagoe is a lovely town, we visited one of the caves in the arvo & a very enjoyable tour Had a lovely evening at the Post Office hotel the owners had only been there for 18 months & had lots of plans to upgrade there rooms for accomodation in the next year & our meal was lovely ☺️

There was nothing to do in the town. Only 1 coffee shop open and could only get coffee. 1 pub open only for an evening meal. The caves were spectacular and Aboriginal art work and information at the information centre was good. It is great for campers and those people who don't want people around. If you like desert places its great but if you dont then I wouldn't go.

Chillagoe is a remote western Queensland town and so have to put that in perspective. The area is full of caves, these are many and varied and some of the most interesting caves I have been to (I have been to NT, SA and TAS caves). It is a remote town, the next stop west is about 540 km away with no towns or fuel, so this pace is on the edge of remote. The town is interesting in itself and if you are even somewhat interested in our history and the past, then a visit is thoroughly worth it.

Chillagoe is an old mining township west of Cairns, and is full of history in itself, but the main attraction is its limestone caves and outcrops. The wife and I ventured through three of the main caves available with guided tours, and explored some of the unguided caves as well over the Three days we were there. The days were not real hot 28 - 30 degrees on average (winter) , would not like to be here in summer!! No rain the whole time we visited, and the nights were cool. We loved the experience, will go again to see more.
