I would suggest a day trip there and not an overnight stay.
I would suggest a day trip there and not an overnight stay. We felt it was a little too remote with limited things to do after a few walks. The "Wall" (just outside Lake St. Claire), was amazing and I highly recommend people to visit. The accommodation was costly for what it was and the lodge was very disorganised.

Beautiful glacial lake surrounded by mountains in the middle of a large National Park. Undeveloped and intended for serious hikers. There are many walking and trekking paths short and long. The Overland hike is a 6 day walking adventure. The roads to and from are mountainous and winding.

The location is a natural gem- beautiful lake scenery and wonderful walks around this National Park. And then central meeting point at the lodge where walkers can gather.
Tips: come ready to look serious as a Walker (back pack and gear) as the majority of visitors here have the Walker look/gear.
Bring the appropriate clothing for warm and cold conditions.
Heaps to take in- however a very peaceful - timeout location to stay.

The staff in the restaurant were difficult to communicate with and the meal options were very limited. There was no phone or WIFI reception on the cabin. I believe they should of been due to the price charged.

All Cabins are on the lake breathtaking views, while we stayed in November 2022 we experienced snow all night and morning. Just added to ambience the timber log fire in the main lodge while dinning and Breakfast which was included in booking. Reception advised on walking tracks to take around lake fully self guided. Rooms were heated / Air conditioned loved the experience just a wonderful stay.
the cabins are really nice and well appointed with everything you need. however please read the fine print: there is NO internet at the cabins. the only place with internet is the main lodge where you can get food and eat but that closes at 7:30pm. there is also no cell service in your cabin so you are very cut off. I did not realize how remote this was so that was an inconvenience to me but if I’d had the expectations of being off the grid then I think I would have enjoyed my stay more.
It was fabulous to stay in the national park and have easy access to the lake, walking tracks and the information centre, where the staff and displays provided loads of interesting and helpful information. Our loft style cottage was gorgeous and the information centre had loads of great information. On the afternoon we arrived we did a short walk to the platypus pool and managed to see lots of glimpses or platypus as they same in circles creating circular ripples.
Outstanding location and facilities. Everything exceeded our expectations and we will be returning for a longer stay. The cabin was superb and the restaurant outstanding. Whist we are not walkers the short tracks are easy and well laid out. We enjoyed the lake cruise and all the site staff are approachable and friendly. Additionally, a great bar with quality Tasmanian wines and a lovely local gin and rum (which we’ve already ordered). 🤪
We had a lovely stay at Lake St Clair Lodge. I had read some less-than-glowing reviews online but I was pleasantly surprised. The location is spectacular, the cabin we stayed in was really quite large and we dealt with some very helpful friendly staff. There was one staff member who wasn't entirely gracious but everyone else was really friendly. I had a change to our schedule that was accommodated very professionally.
This accommodation is located on the shores of Lake St Clair. It is such a beautiful and tranquil location. Hardly anyone around (compared to other similar places in Tasmania). Breakfast was good. Bar open most of the day. Also had dinner one night at the bistro which was lovely. Best part is the location and access to the many walking tracks around and near the Lake. One of my favourite spots in Tasmania.
Great location and the suite was comfortable and provided privacy and nice place to relax after a long day's walking. Staff were generally friendly and polite.
The ferry ride to Echo Point was great, despite chopping conditions. The captain did a good job of putting everyone at ease. That same team member was also great behind the bar. Very friendly and great banter.
Comfortable cabins in the national park near visitor information, hiking trails and lake. On site staff was friendly and, though brand new to their jobs, found the info we needed. Ala carte lunch and dinner menus provided a variety of options but included breakfast was quite limited.
The Lodge is located on the edge of Lake St Clair, it really is a beautiful place. The cabins are the adaptations and editions to the old national park huts but seem to have completely missed the mark. The bathrooms were terrific and the places clean.
The location is at time breath taking. The room was cabin like on the outside but hotel inside. Heater was highly effective. Breakfast was ok plentiful and a basic hot breakfast. Dinner at night was ok and enjoyed little bit basic for the price.
Absolutely incredible position. Very well set up facilities that were quiet, tasteful and catered fully to our needs. Large comfortable beds and the cafe had great meals at night. You really felt close to nature but with all the comforts.
