Quick visit to Longreach with family via road and return via...
Quick visit to Longreach with family via road and return via train to Brisbane. You could spend a few days to enjoy all Longreach and surrounds has to offer. Be aware that the town still tends to close Saturdays from 12 noon and all day Sunday so plan your time wisely. Distance can lengthy if behind road trains or caravans -with no real dedicated overtaking lanes- so be safe and allow extra time if travelling to a strict timetable. All tours we did were excellent.
All tours we did were excellent. Qantas Founders - definitely do luminescent night before. It led into the rest for next day for a more complete experience. Stockmans Hall full of info. Self guided audio excellent how it senses which area you walk into and enable extra info to listen to. Don't forget to walk the Heritage gardens around and the walk into township so pleasant 2km. So easy on cemented paths while looking at vegetation. Merino bakery - pies so yummy. Starlight cruise a great experience. Chilly but if prepared a lovely night outside. Food hearty and delicious. Longreach has so much to offer the Visitor. Wonderful Museums filled with history, Tours reliving history in a modern and interactive way. In peak season it's advisable to book in advance so that you don't miss out on any unique experience! Great food and hospitality.Guest review byRamm - 10.0

Impressed with the town.
Impressed with the town. Spent some time looking around the shops with historical displays - Cobb & Co and early aviation. Qantas museum is open from 8am -1pm so you need to plan for a morning visit. It was next door to more modern units that had a Longreach Private Apartment sign, but neither had reception advice so we had to ring and go to the hotel. Quite confusing after a long drive.
