Charming small town.
Charming small town. Known for wines and Argentinian-style steaks. Many companies offer Winery tours. In our experience (three times) those are designed to drink lots of table wine, but no quality wines. If you really want to taste good wines, arrange to visit any (or all) of the four largest wineries (Aranjuez, Kolberg, Campos de Solana, and La Concepcion) and ask to taste their best wines. You will be surprised how good they are. Don't be afraid to spend a little more. Still a bargain for foreign travelers. You will be disappointed if you take any of the widely publicized "Ruta del Vino" tours, except for the scenery in the cramped vans.

In Tarija life seems to be enjoyed with tranquility and confidence, possibly because time seems to be running at a different pace. Indeed, people from Tarija are who made my visit so fantastic. Living in a big city might be hectic at times, but if you are looking for a different type of adventure in which you can actually can trust good people's faith, you have to go to Tarija, and don't forget the fabulous wine!

The room was clean and we were delighted that they allowed us to check in very early as we had arrived on an overnight bus. The staff were friendly and helpful - they took time to help me activate a local SIM which was much appreciated. The bed was comfortable and the shower was good with hot water. The WiFi worked very well for us. Breakfast was served buffet style and was tasty.

The pool and other facilities were very nice. Breakfast was great- we did not eat dinner at the hotel so I cannot comment on the restaurant in the hotel. Quite comfy and very neat rooms with lovely antique furniture. Friendly staff and good services. The owners are quite helpful providing info about tours in Tarija. The ice cream shop is probably the best in the city. The Casona Gloria has an added historic value being the place where the great poet Roberto Echazú was born.
