This was one of the most lovely stays on our Camino. The building is gorgeous and the warmth of the woman who runs the posada is a delight. In the evening she places candles on the stairway to the rooms! The common sitting room is lovely and the buffet breakfast was beautiful and delicious. This posada is a true gem in Cantabria.

The owners were wonderful. There isn't much around Posada, and I needed to get to Santander. The owner drove me in his car to the bus stop which was over 5 km away. He was a sweet gift 🎁

Guemes is just the most lovely tiny town in northern Spain!
Guemes is just the most lovely tiny town in northern Spain! I was walking the Camino and stayed just one night this time but want to come back and spend a week here using it as a hub for cycling in the area. The restaurant at the hotel is top notch, too - the bacaloa de pisto I ate there was simply divine!!!

I stuck in the rain at around 8pm on my way reaching to Guemes, and it was a mountain road. A lady who was walking her two dogs saw me and offered me to drive me to the hotel i booked at Guemes. I wanted to leave money when i drop off her van but she sincerely refused. The hospitality and kindness i experienced in this small town (by staying only in total 10 hours or so) made me feel that that day was the best time i experienced during my entire camino de santiago 5 days journey. Not to mention that I woke up the second day at the hotel with a complete mountain view in this quiet village, with fresh made apple juice, nice baked breakfast and a ColaCao:).

Stayed for two nights in a very nice large room with balcony and excellent bathroom. The place is well positioned for exploring the Cantabrian countryside and the beaches.
