This is a truly special property. Wonderful mix of old world charm and present-day amenities. I was helped with a taxi to/from the Camino and was welcomed by staff by name at the door. The room was beautifully decorated and the terrace was a lovely place to unwind with a glass of wine and olives. I saw previous reviews that were not great regarding the restaurant but I have to say I was blown away. The food was fantastic and reasonably priced, and the service was exceptional. Everyone made me feel like I was the only person staying there. I found it while researching a non-alburgue type of lodging, but I’d say that if you are planning a trip in the general vicinity you should give this hotel a try. I had the most basic room type but got a peek at a bigger room while they were cleaning, and wow! Very special. I’m just sad I didn’t get a chance to use the spa/fitness center due to my schedule.

Amazing Spanish hospitality. Kudos to Chef Santiago for an delicious dinner - some of the dishes were his own personal creations. Wonderful in every way! Super Mikey was a creative and skilled host; he organized a wonderful evening with dinner and wine.... a precious memory we will never forget. Do not miss the opportunity to stay here and make some fantastic friends.

I could not have picked a better hotel for my stay in Palas de Rei. The owner Gustavo went out of his way to pick me up in town and drive me to the property. The rooms are cozy, warm and the beds are heavenly after a long day trailing down the Camino. They have a massage chair where I spent at least an hour and a half resting my very tired legs. They also have a beautiful and peaceful living room where you can rest up and read your book. I felt at home thanks to Gustavo and his very kind staff, and would 110% recommend staying at Pazo de Laia!
