Well located and good enough for a road trip stop with the family. It is a very quiet location, good for resting. Allowing pets was a plus for us, because we travelled with a cat.

Petit Garros, hotel in Lugon et l’Ile du Carney

A B&B located 3.1 mi from Fronsac along the Dordogne River, Petit Garros is surrounded by vineyards and set in a garden with an outdoor swimming pool. Rooms at Petit Garros are elegantly decorated.

A magnificent visit to Bordeaux and surroundings, and one of the top reasons were Jean Charles and Petit Garros. My sisters and I were looking for something bucolic, with view to the vineyards. We dedicated 1 day to Bordeaux, 1 to St Emilion and 1 to Fronsac and Pomerol (don't miss chateau Thailhas). Petit Garros was perfect. Nice property, best rest ever, (0 noise level, comfortable beds), superb shower, delicious breakfast and on top of all, the best host, Jean Charles, funny, helpful, kind. Thank you so much for having us!

This is a really good place with charming, helpful, informative owners who are on site. We were fortunate to have the pool and garden - both of which are delightful - to ourselves for the first few days but otherwise it is a shared space with the owners and any guest at the other gite. Our kids love the table tennis table. It is extremely well situated for Bordeaux, and all the surrounding sites. Go to the Base Sous Marines - ex U boat base now an art installation, which is fantastic. Lots else around as you would imagine in wine country. Highly recommended and good value for money.

The room in the tower is rustic, tiled floors throughout, open fireplace and latch wooden doors, no handles! There are three parts to the room, an entrance area with kettle etc, and a couple of chairs, the shower/toilet room and the bedroom. There is a nice towel warming radiator in the shower/toilet room. There was a kettle, glasses, cups, tea and coffee. Although Delphine was not giving us dinner she offered to lend us plates and cutlery if we were providing our own. Views are of open countryside and vineyards. For us the bed was a little small - my husband is over six feet tall and even I could reach the bottom of the bed with my feet. You could hear the family moving past the connecting door on occasions, it didn't bother us that much. There was also some noise from the room above ours, not much but it was there. Breakfast was as is usual in France, bread, croissant, jams, yoghurt with a little meringue, juice, and tea/coffee/chocolate. We sat outside to eat our dinner and enjoy some wine. It was so peaceful, all you could hear were the pigeons!
