Nantua is a good stopping off place if driving from France...
Nantua is a good stopping off place if driving from France to Italy or vice versa via the Mont Blanc tunnel. It is conveniently placed a short way from the motorway so if coming from or going to the North of France it helps to avoid crossing into Switzerland. The town itself is in a very beautiful location with a lake and surrounding mountains. L'embarcadere is a decent hotel. Other than that the town is a bit nondescript with little to do, unexciting eating-out and is a bit expensive. Great for a convenient one-night stopover but little else.

Clean, comfortable rooms & plenty of parking spaces. Views over the lake were charming and setting was very peaceful. Plus point - restaurant food exceeded expectations and M'D was efficient at dealing with my query. Breakfast was served in an outside accessed room - mostly cold option but plenty available.

At 2 hours from the resort, it was the perfect location.
