It was not too far from the train station or where we had to walk for our tour.

Beautiful and relaxing. Exceptionally spacious room with huge armoire and chest, table and sofa. Lovely view from both sides onto entrance drive and gardens and at back the lawns and orchard. Very special ambience. Very good breakfast and the manager gave us a deal as we don’t eat a large breakfast. Good restaurant recommendations. We tried 3 of them going back to each as they were so good.
At Port-en-Bessin, located between the D-day landing beaches and the town of Bayeux in the heart of historic Normandy, stands the charming 18th century Chateau La Chenevière.

Perfection …we were warmly welcomed at check-in by Justine. My daughters and I toured Normandy during the day and were so happy to check into this gorgeous hotel. We were given adjoining rooms— beautifully decorated, and ever so comfortable. We dined in the restaurant- Thiebault, who served us, was terrific and took note of my daughter’s food allergy. We enjoyed a divine meal before tucking in. Our only regret was not staying longer!

Ryes is a quiet village in the countryside with little traffic. Stores are a short drive a way , but still close enough. For people who like to spend their vacation exploring the region it is a wonderful place to come back to and enjoy the quiet and regenerate for a next day's adventure.

Quiet village but no Boulangerie.
Quiet village but no Boulangerie. Nearest bread was in Summervieu where the Tabac owner was very friendly.
The Auberge des Monts in Ryes is well worth a visit (and reasonably priced) for dinner and by talking to then in advance they catered nicely for the vegetarians in our party of seven.
The brilliant beach at Arromanches can be reached by walking a few kilometres, mainly by footpaths.
Bayeux (including hypermarkets) is within easy reach (15 minutes by car)

Verry good located near all main touristic spots: beaches of D-Day, Caen, Bayeux. Choice of restaurants mainly in Arromanches and Courseulles sur mer. The latter is the best option for seafood in my opinion.
