Overall, the region was beautiful and there are many lovely towns to visit and much history in the area. Sarlat has a recently updated town square that is quite beautiful. Getting around the town itself is typical of a small French town. Walking is best! I was underwhelmed with the restaurants and the shops. Some areas of the town feel rundown.

It’s such a beautiful city and it has wonderful things to explore within the walls. The whole region around Sarlat is beautiful. Sarlat is the perfect place to rest after a long day exploring other small towns or caves in this gorgeous region. We could have spent two weeks here easily. Take full advantage of the markets on Wednesday and Saturday in Sarlat to get amazing food, and of course, eat at a restaurant and enjoy some amazing wine.

Charming old town, narrow streets, lots of shops, many, many selling local produce, foie gras, etc. Centrally located to visit the highlights of the Dordogne. Many places to dine, seemingly pretty much the same menus everywhere except in a couple of higher end restaurants. It is hilly. Parking very hard, everywhere is payant, get the APP.

Will definitely stay again

Politeness and a smile opens many doors, I don't speak French well, but was very pleased at how friendly and polite the people were. I mean all the people not just the ones that are getting some financial benefit from you.
Basically, be nice, don't be an ass, and you won't get treated like one.
Take a moment to look at how many men these small towns lost during WWI, must have been devistating.

We stayed 4 nights. The host Christine is a fabulous lady. Our flight was delayed but she waited for us on the first day until 22.30 to check us in. She helped us in everything we needed and gave us a lot of tips about what, where and when to visit. The location is great both to drive to all directions and to reach the old city of Sarlat. The room was wonderful and very quiet. The breakfast was wonderful. We warmly recommend the hotel for all.
Set on a hilltop with a fine view, walking distance from the centre of Sarlat, the hotel is peaceful and comfortable with friendly, welcoming staff. we enjoyed dinner which was well presented and well cooked. we entertained friends for lunch the next day and the formule déjeuner was ideal and high quality. Great value for money. much to be preferred to a stay in the centre of Sarlat.
Easy to find just 5 min walk from the main bit of town. Good parking behind the hotel. Room was a bit small and a tight staircase to climb but quiet and comfortable. Sarlat was a real surprise, lovely place lots of restaurants lots of life in the town and impressive medieval building galore. It appears to be the gastronomic centre for duck, foie gras and more duck; suited me fine!
Jonathan is an incredibly friendly and welcoming host to a beautiful apartment in the heart of Sarlat.
The décor and features of the apartment are a delight; the plunge pool is a luxury and a welcome necessity in the heat of summer.
Everything you need is nearby from the basics of parking and a small supermarket to fine restaurants, excellent wine shops and the best bakeries.
Very clean hotel and room, that also goes for the breakfast (where, however, the breakfast-room might need some decoration :) Other than that, everything was really good, nice and helpful staff (that didn't try to talk me into costly parking options, for example, but was very helpful pointing out free parking options).
The property is superbly located in the center of the medieval town close to many excellent restaurants. The owners were fabulous, helped us with restaurant reservations, met us at the hotel, and had many suggestions, and had a surprisingly well stocked kitchen for us. The room itself was wonderful.
Olivier and his wife were outstanding hosts, we felt at home in their beautiful house. We were in France for one month, stayed at Hyatt, Westin, Le CEP and other fine hotels, Olivier's house tops all for beautiful setting, closeness to action, cleanness....we felt at home there.
Beautiful castle not far from Sarlat la Caneda. We love the place where it is located. It has a swimming pool and it was great to chill there when the temperature was almost 40 degrees.
It’s very quiet and the room was comfortable.

Our hostess, Patrice, was a jewel!
This is a lovely old villa with a few quirks and that is part of what I love about France. Our room and bathroom were huge and the views from it's windows were spectacular.
The host was very friendly and very knowlegble about the area. The place was a nice size and clean. Also, it was very close to the actual town of Sarlat-la-Caneda, you could walk in to town in a few minutes.
It is located in the town center, close to the medieval city. The staff were very kind and accomodating. I travelled with children and asking for rooms with connecting doors, and the hotel provided it for us.
Beautiful boutique hotel in a great location in the centre of Sarlat. Super helpful staff. Room was fantastically appointed with a lovely terrace. Highly recommend dinner at aux 3 sens too
Everything. We stayed in both a studio and the apartment (the apartment was luxe) studio was also lovely.
Perfect location in the center of Sarlat. Lovely hotel and great staff.
Great location, with parking lot opposite of the hotel ( you must pay between 9 am- 7pm) and free parking lot behind the hotel (4 min walk) Nice breakfast. we had a spacious room
