the French couple/owners were so welcoming and hospitable. The home is out a bit in the country (which we always strive for) and doesn’t have a sign so you would never see it driving around as we usually do. it’s actually a private home with 3 rooms upstairs and a shared bathroom -good to know/expect. Jack, the husband is fluent in English and took the time to share his outside yard while his lovely wife tried to find reservations for us for dinner. such a sweet couple. and a nice way to spend time in a real French countryside home and not some chain hotel. this is a place/fun time our husbands are still talking about. (we are late-mid 70’s and travel like Gypsies so there’s that)
Jack also suggested a “typical French town” to visit and we are so happy for that advice.

The owners, Jack and Sylvie were friendly and very helpful. The accommodations were spacious, comfortable, clean and well furnished, it also has a full kitchen. It’s located in the charming village of Roocourt about 20 minutes away from the city of Chaumont. We stayed here because I have family that live nearby, the airlines had lost my suitcase when we arrived in Lyon and I had forwarded the address of the Gite to them, however we left 2 days before it was delivered.
Jack called to let us know it was delivered and he would hold it until we could return to pick it up. I should also note that Jack speaks excellent English as he spent many years in England. We really enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to return.
Hotel de France is located in the heart of Chaumont, just a 2-minute walk from the train station. It offers accommodations with Canal+ satellite TV channels and free Wi-Fi access.
