Unfortunately we stayed in a Chateau in France the night before so…. This one didn’t compare well to its French counterpart. I guess it’s ok for England.

Breakfast was excellent, but I wish they would serve earlier. Room was well appointed if a bit small, and there was no heat.

It was clean, bedroom was equipped with a comfortable bed and very good quality bed linen. The location was perfect for us, very quiet in the night and plenty of fresh air from open windows. Breakfast was well organised and the staff accommodating.

Nothing was open except not very friendly post office.

Nothing was open except not very friendly post office. Understand that it is difficult at the moment with COVID. Not much there really. We were only passing through as going to a 40th Anniversary celebration in West Hoathly. Taxis very expensive.

Ardingly is located in a lovely part of the country, loads of walks around the area & if, like us, you visiting National Trust properties there are several in easy reach, we managed to visit 4 & 1 not NT in 3 days. A little further is the south coast with its plethora of attractions. When driving around you get spectacular views of the area, well worth pulling over to take it all in. On the negative side, it can get very busy at times and the roads are quite narrow and twisting.

This is a pleasnt country inn, with friendly welcoming staff, and good basic food. Don't expect 'fine dining', but you wont pay its price either. An excellent base for many Natoinal Trust properties, with Kew/NT Wakehurst (was Wakehurst Place) and the British Wildlife Centre within five minutes by car. There is plenty of car parking space in their car park, and if it was to be full for any reason there is a public (free) car park opposite.
