We loved the location. We had originally thought we needed to stay closer to Portree, but we we so much happier on the west side of the island where Ullinish House was located.

Carbost is a lovely little village with a stunning coastline. We wanted to visit Talisker Distillery but unfortunately it was closed due to extreme weather conditions, however the snow made for sensational photographs! The town has a little village shop which was very well stocked with friendly staff. We spoke to some locals, they were all very friendly too. I think we chose a brilliant spot to stay - easy to navigate all over the island from, and a very scenic place to call home for a few days.

Very welcoming people live in the area, we went to the pub on Saturday, met people and went for dinner to their house on Sunday. It’s the things you don’t expect in life that are the greatest experience. Be open for it!

I loved the scenery and the beauty of the coastline.

I loved the scenery and the beauty of the coastline. Walking was hard going as no walking paths. You can however walk anywhere you want you are not prohibited. Plenty of midges which is a nuisance. Lots of beaches to visit and beauty spots. Not good if it's raining as there is nothing to do. Some good pubs to eat in with beautiful views. You need a car on this island too. Plenty of areas to wild camp. Fav place was Talisker beach (easy walking) Old man of Storr (med to difficult walking) view s from here were beautiful. Eilean Donan castle for good photo opportunities. It's a beautiful island and worth a visit.

We were planning to stay an extra day but the weather was going to get bad and we were afraid the ferry off the island would be shut down so we left early. There was a delicious little pub down the street-12 minute walk to be exact.
