Welcomed with a warm smile and good humour. Studio style B&B accommodation with an extra large and very comfortable king-size bed and lovely pillows. Second single bed also in the room.Nice 2 seater sofa, large wall mounted TV with link to Netflix and a small kitchen area with fridge with fresh milk, microwave oven, toaster and kettle with full range of hot drinks. Crockery and cutlery also provided. Delicious farm stay breakfast, plenty to choose from and promptly served. Nice quiet location within the rurality of a working farm.

If we could rate our stay at a higher than 10, we would. We just can't say enough good things about our stay. Ian and Kate were beyond hospitable and went above and beyond to make sure our stay was wonderful. We had everything we could have needed and then some. From making sure we had a wonderful, home made breakfast to start our day to helpful tips about what we should make sure we see while we were there. As if that wasn't enough, the little desserts in the room was such a nice added touch.
We hope we are able to stay here again in the future and will not hesitate to recommend The Old School House to anyone visiting the area.

Delightful little pub, and the room was just what you need -- plus the bonus of an amazing bath tub which gave me just the hot bath I needed after a long day's walk. Excellent choice for walkers on the Wall Path.

Liked Haltwhistle been before , Good Centre for the Roman Wall experience, Would recommend to anybody. Also could leave you car as there is a good bus service in the Town to Newcastle Alston Carlisle and the Roman sites, Good food available in the town also supermarkets. No Post Office or Bank though.

The town is marketed as being the geometric centre of Great Britain. It may well be. It is ideally situated a short drive from Hexham and roughly midway between Carlisle and Newcastle. We only spent one night but it is in a perfect spot for visiting Hadrian's Wall. It is near the best museum- Vindolanda and the best section of the wall (Cawfield Quarry) if you want to get a good taste of the Wall but only have a limited amount of time, like we did.

I was walking Hadrian's Wall so it was great that we had the pub on our doorstep for our evening meal and the property was so close to the Hadrian's Wall path. It was lovely being in such clean air in the heart of Northumberland National park.

The owners were very hospitable - even to the extent of offering to drive me back to Haltwhistle to retrieve my car! Highly recommend.
