Excellent host. For a UK guesthouse, it was in exceptional physical state and cleanliness. Convenient central location. Lerwick has a beautiful historic downtown which hasn't suffered from the blight of pebbledash stucco like other parts of Scotland.

Loved the view of the water from our room. Loved that we had a hidden opening to a second small room behind the bookcase. Loved the breakfast. Located a short walk from Commercial Street and the Harbor of Lerwick and as we were fortunate to have good weather (except for wind), enjoyed the walk.

The manager that took care of our stay arranged a different room for us than the one we had reserved, because we are somewhat elderly and not really able to handle stairs. He prepared a room especially for us that we could access with the lift. He went above and beyond to help us! Helped us with laundry facilities etc. Great guy!

Fantastic location with beautiful 2 bedroom home and fully furnished, beautiful kitchen with even an espresso maker, stove and oven, full size fridge, dishwasher and laundry facilities! WiFi. Host David is very responsive, helpful and friendly. Home is centrally located, right next to the Fort, beautiful TownHall, and a couple steps from Commercial St, with lots of businesses and restaurants. And also wonderfully quiet. Highly recommend!

I was in Lerwick during a stretch of unpleasant weather - cold and rainy with strong winds sometimes gusting at gale force. I would not recommend October or probably not winter. This is where you need to base if you want to explore the Shetland Islands. We found a great tour guide who took us all the way to the northern end of Unst and with his 40+ year history on the island was a wealth of information. Message me if you want his contact info. We also did one of the wildlife boat tours which was great!

We very much enjoyed seabird watching tour departing from the small boat ferry port in Lerwick, which is really recommended! We brought a car rented at Aberdeen to Orkney/Shetland by ferries and it was nicely worked. Taking your own car is recommend as the great bird watching and archaeological sites are far away from Lerwick. Unfortunately the puffin season was over when we were in the Orkney/Shetland. I would like to visit again to see puffins!

Lerwick, well known to many people because of the TV series 'Shetland', is a charming town with many interesting features. Most importantly, the people are very friendly and welcoming to visitors, a good thing as during the summer months it is a regular stop off for cruise ships. The town centre is tucked just behind the sea front and contains interesting local shops, cafes and restaurants. Our favourite was 'The Dowry', which has great food and excellent coffee. Visit Fort Charlotte, take a walk around the Nab for breathtaking views, catch a ferry across the sound to the island of Bressay, peruse the outstanding (and free) Shetland Museum or walk out of town to explore the ancient Broch of Clickimin. Lerwick is a great base for shorter excursions around the islands. We could have stayed longer for more hiking and half/full day visits. Shetland has a lot to offer. The nature is outstanding and people are very friendly. We really enjoyed our tour with Lara Thomason who guided us around south Shetland and took us the the north west cliffs of Shetland. Very knowledgeable and pleasant to hang with. Next time it will be for hiking!AnnaSweden - 10Scored 10

A lovely place with plenty to do. Those of you who want to relax can enjoy the amazing scenery and wildlife from many locations around Lerwick and even when having a coffee or eating dinner at some of the locations.

It's not like a modern hotel but felt cozy. Like staying at your Gran's but better. Breakfast was lovely and so was the lady who serves it. She gave us lots of nice conversation and helpful advise. I also like that the other tourists who stay here are totally not like the brits you find in Alicante The breakfast area is a place to hear interesting stories and pick up tips of where to go.

My colleagues were all in the harbour on a boat but I had to be onshore. Great WiFi for working and a lush bed for relaxing. A beautifully presented apartment with everything you’d ever need and more. I cannot fault this accommodation in anyway. I need to come back in 2024. Unfortunately it’s all booked and I’m at a loss as nothing in Lerwick compares. Gutted.
