The Craven Heifer Inn, hotel in Nelson

The Craven Heifer Inn is a gastro inn located in Kelbrook. It offers stylish bedrooms with attached bathroom with gourmet dining on site.

A beautiful inn. Our room was warm and comfortable. The bed was super comfy. Everywhere was exceptionally clean. Plenty of tea, coffee and milk. Plenty of parking. The evening meal was delicious and the service was excellent We asked for an early breakfast as we had an event to attend - this was no issue at all and we pre ordered. It was served at 6.30am as requested. Little things like this are what make an establishment stand out from the rest. Would return in a heartbeat - we wish we could have stayed longer.

Innovation House, hotel in Nelson

Featuring 3-star accommodations, Innovation House is located in Burnley, 12 miles from King George's Hall and 19 miles from Victoria Theatre.

We booked this stay to go to a Burnley match at Turf Moor. It was ideal for this purpose! Close to the stadium, safe, close to a few bars/restaurants and had the basics. That said, Burnley is smaller than I imagined and there were other accommodations that would have been perfectly fine for a pre/post match stay. We had good communication with the manager, including addressing an issue with one of our beds (they came first thing the next day to fix it). The sheets and beds were comfortable. There was coffee/tea and a kettle, plus access to a larger kitchen/fridge and washing machine.

In honesty, this property is so well located for walking, one would really want to stay for longer. The only issue with that is that there is no real chance to be "self catering". Having said that, with Kerry's cooking, no-one in their right mind would go there and not dine with the hosts. The dishwasher is David, sounds odd but all you have to do is leave your used crockery in a bowl and it is returned, they were even kind enough to wash our "keepy warmy" travel flasks for us. It is very bijou, if you are large and tall then consider that the bed is a standard double. The building is cute but the windows don't open so be ready to sleep with the door open, there is little chance of any intrusion!

The centre of Nelson has seen better days but that doesn't matter when Colne and and other smaller towns like Skipton, Hebbdon Bridge, Clitheroe and others are nearby. If like me you like the countryside Nelson is a very good starting point for the Sothern Pennines.

Nelson is a place that is multicultural.

Nelson is a place that is multicultural. All different nationalities live here sharing all the shopping and leisure facilities. It is a little run down but the surrounding area has lots of beautiful areas to visit. Pendle Hill, Brontë Sisters in Haworth, Skipton Market and Castle, The Crow Wood Spa in Burnley, said to be the Best Spa on the UK, which was my favourite place to visit. We made meals in the bungalow, but ate one night at the Thatch and Thistle, do not recommend. . the next night we ate at the Shooters Arms over the tops of Nelson and that I can recommend, beautiful food great service and a real log fire.

    Nelson was a pleasant place.

Nelson was a pleasant place. We wanted to get away for a hiking weekend but it wasn't an ideal location for the long hikes that we like. Being a bank holiday weekend it was all we could get because we booked late
