A 300-year-old 4-star country house hotel, the Mercure Shrewsbury Albrighton Hall Hotel & Spa offers rooms with attached bathroom, a restaurant and bar, as well as a leisure club and spa.

The only experience which was pleasant was having Kevin serve us at dinner and then again for afternoon tea the following day. All other staff were rude and unpleasant.

The village has a ruined castle and mansion cared for by English Heritage. The RAF base nearby trains helicopter pilots but was not busy enough to disturb us. Visitors will find the location convenient for the historic town of Shrewsbury. The countryside around would be easily explored by bike or on foot - but my wife has disabilities so could not walk any distance.

Everyone was so friendly and i felt at ease. The rooms were very nice and just right with on-sweet. In the country side and surrounded with all sorts of animals. I suggest pin pointing the address before travelling as the postcode takes you to the castle ruin.

We used Shawbury as a base for other activities in the area and it suited our needs well. It was quiet and just what we were looking for, easy access to places such as Wem and Shrewsbury, and with several nice pubs (we had a great meal at the Fox and Hounds), and a number of take aways, surprising for a village of its szie.

Shawbury is a small town beside an RAF Station.

Shawbury is a small town beside an RAF Station. There is an excellent pub/restaurant called The Fox & Hounds where you will find excellent food at reasonable prices. It is very popular so I recommend that you book your table 01939 250600. We dined there every evening of our 3 day visit and had the opinion that you could dine there for a week and not run out of tempting menu options. We enjoyed the speciality gins very much! Nearby are the ruins of Moreton Corbet Castle. Shawbury is within striking distance of Shrewsbury which has the excellent Shrewsbury Museum & Art Gallery which offers a family friendly museum experience that brings to life the Roman, Medieval, Tudor and Stuart eras as well as sharing some of the most prominent local history in our Shropshire gallery. These tell the story of Shrewsbury and Shropshire from pre-history to the modern day. Shrewsbury prison was built in 1793 and for the past 200 years has been home to 1000's of criminals. Now its been opened to the public by Jailhouse tours, who run daily guided tours of the site and are not to be missed. Parking opposite for only £5.50 /24 hours SY1 2HP Nr railway Stn. Also near to the railway station, on Castle Street SY1 2AT is the medieval, red-brick Shrewsbury Castle which houses the Shropshire Regimental Museum, where military artefacts include uniforms and weaponry. St Chad's Church is defined by its unique circular nave, and St Mary’s Church has elaborate stained-glass windows.

    Delicious breakfast.

Delicious breakfast. Hosts told us of local history so we looked round the ruined castle. Will look inside the church on a future visit as a service was taking place at the time of our stay. We went on to walk and had a rock climb at nearby Grinshill.

Visited for sons graduation from RAF Shawbury so not there for very long. Visited Shrewsbury, approx 7 miles away. Lovely old fashioned town, good shopping area, historical buildings, plenty of eating places. Would recommend using the park and ride bus service as car parks limited, £2 return, great value.

Very close to RAF Shawbury. Shrewsbury is a few miles away (park & ride available) Market Drayton 20 mins drive away. Oswestry and Whitchurch 30 mins drive away. B&B has stunning scenery & a beautiful garden. The car park is in the old playground so there is plenty of space. There is a T.V. mini toiletries and tea/coffee facilities provided in the rooms which are en-suite with a shower & toilet. Free wifi but signal can be a bit hit & miss in the area. Lovely, friendly & helpful owners. Amazing breakfast!

Very clean and comfortable room. Had a great night's sleep. Huge bathroom with a good shower. Great view from the big windows towards the castle ruin. Saw greenfinches and goldfinches on the wires from my room which I particularly enjoyed. Easy drive to nearby Shawbury for dinner. Lovely cooked breakfast at a time to suit.
