Located within its own private estate, overlooking the River Tay, gateway to the Scottish Highlands, this charming country house provides luxurious accommodations in tranquil surroundings.

The staff were courteous, friendly and extremely helpful. It is a magnificent building in a wonderful location. Some of the decor was slightly jaded but not surprising in an older property. The food was excellent and the hotel had a very friendly attitude with many dog owners present and guests as varied as a genteel stag do to delightful elderly ramblers. The staff were pleasant, knowledgeable and appeared happy in their workplace. This enhanced the overall relaxed feeling of the hotel. The grounds are exceptional with some lovely (occasionally muddy) walkways through woodland and riverside.
The ideal base from which to enjoy an exciting activity-filled break in the Scottish Highlands, this true Sportsman’s hotel is set in Stanley, just 15 minutes from the Perth City Centre.

Lovely staff, comfortable bed and large clean room in a traditional hotel, a very enjoyable trip 👍
This hotel is beside the River Tay, a minute from Perth Museum and Horsecross Concert Hall. Rooms are en suite and many have views of the river and the hotel's award-winning gardens.

The room was lovely and clean, as was the hotel on the whole, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was nice and there were options for myself as a vegetarian, although it was essentially just cereal/granola and toast but I was content with that. The location was perfect for what I needed. Parking was available.
The Lovat Hotel is located in the ‘Fair City of Perth’ which is recognized as the Gateway to the Highlands with easy access to all the main routes to other cities such as Edinburgh, St Andrews,...
In the heart of Scotland and 5 minutes' walk from the center of Perth, this hotel is conveniently located for the railway and bus stations. Wi-Fi is available throughout and it is free of charge.

Decent location to where we wanted to be that weekend
One of the most unique hotels in Perth, in a 15th-century watermill, where you can still watch the water trickling through the original water wheel from the garden, lobby area and Lounge Bar.

The hotel is in a beautiful location, right beside the river and surrounded by woodland..........but very isolated
Great if you're traveling on, but remote if you want to spend a few days in Perthshire.
That being said, I would go back.
Main house is very grand, staff very nice and lounge is very comfy
Good, really good breakfast.
Dinner, although not taken, seemed a bit pricey

The room smelled very strange.
The room smelled very strange. There was a whoppingly large beetle wandering about in the bed.
The staff were pleasant, but frankly, I wasn't happy here. I was sent to the bar to order my food and to have it at a table there. This was quite one of the most unpleasant experiences. There were only men in the bar, and silence dropped bang as soon as I walked in, all seats were taken. I was the only woman in the room.
The barman asked me to wait to put in my order although I was the only person standing at the bar at that time. I waited, and waited, and then walked out, said to the admin staff that I would prefer not to eat at all and that I was not prepared to be put through the situation at the bar that clearly was uncomfortable for everyone.
The staff then found me a place in the lounge to order some light supper. The food was excellent. But frankly, this whole situation was like something out of a zoo several generations back.
And no, I would never go back.

noisy boiler flue attached to front of building, first room offered rejected as insufficient light and too noisy. On a positive note staff happily moved us to quiet accommodation in the riverside block which have good rooms, balcony overlooking the river and lovely view. Another positive was the evening meal which was superb, well cooked and presented, breakfast was a buffet which is not our preference.

We unfortunately stayed only one night at Ballathie House, but we will never forget this short stay. Our expectations were exceeded in every respect, most notably the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff and the exceptionally good and superb food.
The setting of the hotel and the landscape are just wonderful, there are beautiful forests and nature parks nearby.

The food and service was 1st class but unfortunately the room we had was next to the main extractor fan for the kitchen.
This fan was left on all night and we had little sleep.
We mentioned this to reception. Reply was they need more complaints to have
Management do something.
This was not a good enough response. There is no reason to have fan on all night disturbing guests. I would like to know a change will occur before considering a stay over again. Don't accept room 17.

A magnificient building in a lovely rural area giving a relaxing atmosphere with superb dining. This hotel would suit people looking for a quiet relaxing stay to treat themselves possibly for a special occasion.
My Birthday treat from my wife. Everything ie Dinner ( exceptional) Breakfast (excellent) Room, ( very good and comfortable with lovely soft pillows) All the staff from housekeeping, restaurant, check in, bar, and Gordon a special message for looking after the magnificent grounds around the hotel, assisted by his wife.
The room we had in the main building was really nice. Comfortable, well-equipped and had a fantastic view of the river Tay and the surrounding countryside. The walks around the grounds are wonderful and the hotel is in a very pretty, peaceful setting.
Dinner was exceptionally good. Breakfast buffet was wide ranging & good quality. Wonderful situation & grounds.
Room was very spacious & comfortable. With some more money invested in plumbing updates, this would be an exceptional hotel.
The grounds are beautiful and the dinner is very good. The rooms and bathrooms in the part of the hotel we stayed in are somewhat out-dated but clean. Beds were fine and the room had a little balcony with an amazing view of the river.
We have stayed at Ballathie House on a number of occasions as we both love the location, comfort of the hotel and friendliness of the staff.Food is always excellent and chef is willing to grant any special request if possible.
Great little dog friendly hotel, staff were excellent, room was great, the food was amazingly good and we could take the dog in for breakfast. Just a short journey off A9 nth of Perth so excellent location for walking
Asked for a quiet room in the Riverside block and the hotel obliged. The evening meal is expensive but well worth the money for a culinary treat. Breakfast is also first class. Ambience is terrific!
Spotless hotel. Excellent dinner and breakfast. Helpful friendly staff. Special mention for Aggie, what an asset to the hotel. Bit out of the way from A9 but more people should stay there.
The food was delicious and a lovely menu.
The main hotel building has a lovely old fashioned charm to it, like a by gone era...
Loved the atmosphere, and the staff couldn't do enough to help.
We had a lovely stay here. It’s so good to stay in an independent hotel where they really care about you. Warm welcome, very comfy beds and a brilliant breakfast! Thank you to all ghrxstsff.
