This is a beautiful mountainside hotel in a fairly remote village. The manager was extremely friendly, greeting us enthusiastically with welcome cookies as we parked, although she speaks more English than she can easily comprehend. The Marina is not especially cheap at 70€ per night (two people, mid-April, no breakfast) but the very large and well appointed room with a balcony and a phenomenal panoramic view of valleys and mountains merits the price. One of the nicest rooms ever! The kitchenette includes a good refrigerator/freezer and 2-burner stove top but is not equipped for cooking, offering only one pot and no cooking utensils. I had to ask for a frying pan. A few other omissions of common amenities made me wonder if the management is new and inexperienced. No dish soap and sponge were present, making it very hard to clean up after cooking. I asked for those items shortly before we checked out and the manager cheerily insisted that was her job and we had no need to wash dishes. That's absolutely the first time I've ever been told it's okay to leave the kitchen dirty after cooking.. The mattresses on the two single beds were generally okay but one was noticeably lumpy. Anogeia is a very interesting and picturesque town with a rich past, some of it tragic. There are many historical signs interpreting past events. It's also a center for hand woven textiles, with older women working looms right in the shops. The shopping district is a friendly, pleasant environment. It seemed quite prosperous but one proprietor said the economy struggles because tourists come to Crete for the sea, not the mountains. It's a worthwhile town in which to tarry and explore.
Located 164 feet from the center of Vlahania Village, the fully restored Villa Daskalogianni features an outdoor pool, communal BBQ facilities and free Wi-Fi.

The peace and quiet and privacy. Large space. Good shower. The kitchen was well equipped and snacks and wine and fruits were appreciated. We were met in person and it was a nice gesture. We had instant contact by phone when needed. The cafeneon in the town square was welcoming and most pleasant and had delicious food. We liked the lemon trees full of fruit and were offered to pick more than were already left for us. The heater was good to have to take the edge off of cool evenings.

Raki upon arrival was kind. Kitchen had coffee to get us started in the morning. Shower had a good overhead flow. Bed was super comfortable. We stayed in a more remote village in a renovated apartment which was done in the ‘traditional Cretan’ style. This place was more IKEA modern. The village itself was also very 21st century. Excellent location for touring the area.
Set in an area of 28 acres, this resort combines the fine facilities of a luxurious hotel with the authenticity of Cretan tradition and the wild beauty of the island.

The hotel is very close to Anogeia village and has a wonderful view towards the mountain Psiloreitis. There is a small lake with fish and ducks and a small farm with peacocks and baby goats that our kid really enjoyed watching.
The indoor pool was clean and relaxing. The room was quite spacious, and there was free parking right outside our door. The traditional cafe is a nice addition.
Featuring garden views, Villas metoxi in Kato Asites offers accommodations, a garden, and a shared lounge.

Nikos the owner was very friendly and accommodating. The villa is new, very comfortable, with lots of space and great views. It has a pool table, fully equipped kitchen, everything is outstanding.
Thank you Nikos for your hospitality!
I think the village is typical of a rural area. It has a mix of properties set on a hill and everyone seems to own a dog. You see the sunrise in front of you as you look across the countryside to the city. We found it to be a very quiet place - the people we did see were very friendly. The general area is countryside with little villages here and there and mountains in the background. It is out of the way but easy to get to the city or go into the mountain areas.
