The house is fantastic, it combines its historic charm with all needed mod cons to make for a very comfortable stay. With its quiet location it was perfect for our relaxing family break. Padraic is a great host, and was very prompt in replying to any query. We would highly recommend this property.

The Lakeside Hotel & Leisure Centre, hotel in Silvermines

Lakeside Hotel & Leisure Center has a stunning location on the banks of the River Shannon. It is 12 mi from Limerick and Nenagh, and just off the N7.

The breakfast was very good, bit a holiday highlight in fact, good variety of foodstuffs, ordering speciality eggs, florentine and salmon for me, and the buffet full Irish alongside. I was pleased with the leisure facilities; the gym, the only one in Killaloe, is not super polished but is better than average for a hotel for weightlifting equipment, free weights, bars benches and exercise space - enough to keep the local gym goers happy who were the primary users of it. Also decent running machines, a bike or two, and a couple of Concept 2 rowing machines for the cardio folks. The sauna and steam room were great - fortunately they were recently back working again after being out of action for some weeks or months apparently. The pool slide was fun, surprisingly quick. As a swimmer I had no pool safety concerns; I was curious about the deep end depth when chatting to a local in the steam room before using it - 1.5m was clearly signed as expected so the tragic incident a few days later probably wasn't related to that.

We stayed with Bernie to assist to my friend's wedding at Ashley Park Hotel which is only 14 mins away by car. Bernie goes above and beyond making you feel so welcomed. She ensures that you are equiped with all what is needed in your stay; fresh bread, milk, teas & coffess, cereals, I mean everything. We are so glad we stayed at Bernie's, herself and her partner are so nice and kind.

The town is absolutely beautiful and the area is very quiet and peaceful. My hostess at the B&B was very friendly and recommended a lovely pub a few minutes away. The food was hot, tasty and very affordable. The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming. There is a lovely trail walk just a short distance away which is fabulous. Well worth a few nights away.

The hosts were so warm, friendly and knowledgeable. It felt like you were part of the family. Lovely location and so peaceful. There was always some home cooked cake ready for you. The accommodation was good and would look forward to going back again. I highly recommend anyone to stay at this B&B. It’s best to have a car to see the wider area. There is a small shop and great pub nearby!

Helen is a great host and I enjoyed my stay in Hillview.

Helen is a great host and I enjoyed my stay in Hillview. The B&B is located at the edge of the estate and has lovely views ( try calling her if you want that exact room with the view ) . If you heading down to limerick , this might be a good place to stay as it is in a countryside and the mornings are absolutely amazing. There is also a small garden in backyard with a nice little table and chair, where you can relax , read a book ( which I did) and just soak it in. Her husband is a very knowledgeable person in mining and I had the opportunity to strike a conversation with him, which went on for an interesting discussion for around 45 mins. I learnt a lot about the mining .. we all live and learn. If you want any groceries etc , there is a small shop near Hickeys pub , but if you care to drive for 10 mins you will find a large Tesco in a town called Nenagh. If you want to microwave anything or want to have tea , the ground floor has the amenities ( microwave , kettle , cutlery etc. You will be treated to a good Irish hospitality when in this B&B. Thank you Helen for the amazing stay.
