Very friendly staff. Optional (not included) breakfast on site. Great view from the hotel. Quaint hotel. Upper floor has slanted ceilings - my tall husband banged his head a time or two, but I was fine. Small, cozy rooms. Fine for a night. Not sure I’d want to stay here long-term.

Perfect house and rooms. Amazing glass room with cute candles.
I love the kitchen most! It provides all I need, such as a bottle of oil, spices, and special hand-made sauce. It's really nice with spaghetti.

Room was clean and neat. However, there were no creamer packets in the room for coffee; only sugar. I had to go up to the restaurant to request some. They kept me waiting while they hunted some down, then told me they would bring some to my room. Then I just asked for some milk. Had it been me, I would have offered a cup of coffee with cream right there to the patron, as opposed to keep me waiting. Duh. Poor customer service. I don't know, maybe I expect something better than bumbling staff without any effort to make things better or right. IDK.
Also disappointed that breakfast was not included.
Impressive views of Troll Waterfalls and an extensive vinyl collection of over 3000 records are notable features of Fossatún Country Hotel.

The location neer the waterfall is magnificent. We have used the hot tubs (3 in total). There is nice paths for meeting the Trolls. Excellent breakfast. Nice environment and a large rock music collection!
We spent our time in Borgarnes. Especially enjoyed the Settlement Center museum. The museum comes with audio guides and is divided into two parts. Historical and folk lore (Sagas). Each takes about 30 minutes. Ate at the restaurant in the Center and it was outstanding. Best mussels I’ve every had. Did a shirt walking tour if the old town too. City also has full service groceries and gas stations and bakery. Not all towns in Iceland have this.

We were staying here on our way back from the western fjords...
We were staying here on our way back from the western fjords, it was nice and relaxing there was plenty to see in a relatively small area. We liked the waterfalls at Hraunfossar and Barnafossar but found them much busier than what we had got used to in the Western Fjords.
There are plenty of restaurants in the area and there are options for most price ranges.

Perhaps Skeljabrekka is an old farm name.
Perhaps Skeljabrekka is an old farm name. I think it includes only two or three homes and three rental cottages, The view and exposure is excellent. All the facilities are in Borgarness, down the highway and across the fjord. Any facilities one is likely to need are in Borgarness: grocery stores, gas stations, bank, restaurants, clinic.
