Breakfast buffet was good. Plenty of food to fuel our walk for the day. The location was also excellent with bakery, restaurants, grocery store, and bars within 5 minute walk. I would describe the hotel as 3.5 stars--nothing fancy but adequate. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Recommend.

Wide green area, both with trees and under sun. Nice swimming pool. A lot of space. Dogs welcome, close to the pool, too. Friendly environment. Facility in campaign but with the comfort of the possibility to reach everything in 5 minutes.
The location is set ideally for day trips to the west in direction of the sea (lucca, Pisa), to the east to Florence and its surrounding, very pittoresque towns in the hillside. Francesco and his family are very friendly and forthcoming and he is always ready to help out if there are any questions. Highly recommended also due to the absolutely quiet area. Do not be irritated by the commercial area nearby, it is not noticable! Also very good restaurants (local specialities) nearby. My wife and I would come again.
Casa Ginori in Altopascio is in a quiet place outside the town. It's up to you if that's an advantage or not. 45min by car to Viareggio, 25min to Lucca, 35 to Pisa.
Giovanni is very nice, he surprised us with some things to eat at the breakfast and with 2 Bottles from his owh wine that is really good. Very nice gesture.
Air conditioning works really well, and the terrace is really nice if you come with kids.
Location is beautiful and charming in the middle of the vineyard, a lot of privacy and a very large accommodation. A perfect position to visit Florence (about 45 minutes), the sea (about 30 minutes), the mountains (about 45 minutes) and Lucca, Pisa, Montecarlo etc. (all within a 30 minutes range). The wine tasting experience is also a must!
As the other reviews state, this is a run down hotel. However, the bathroom, sheets, and towels were clean and this is the main thing! It is do-able for an evening if you are on a budget, and is right on the path of the Via Francigena. The staff were helpful and allowed me to use their fridge to store some food.

We stayed here while walking the via Francigena. The hotel is in a great location for the route. The rooms were spacious, cool and clean. The hosts were so friendly and kind. I left behind a pair of earrings and the owner called me and drove over to give them back to me! So generous and kind!
The hosts were very kind, helpful and patient; I got stranded with my motorbike and they went out of their way to help me. I can’t thank them enough.
The hotel is right next to the center of the village, which is surprisingly nice with lots of restaurants.
I was in Altopascio just for a day, on my way to Siena along the Via Francigena. Nice place a bit away from Altopascio (perhaps a couple of km). Very nice personnel, always kind and willing to help. The pool is a great plus, during the hot Tuscany summer :-)
The hosts are very kind, they helped us around the place and accommodated us . The location is very good, it is near the major cities like Florence and Lucca. The facilities are superb, a classic italian household and it held everything we needed.
This was a one night stopover while on our roadtrip. Happy with the hotel, parking simple, we left early so can't comment on breakfast. The best part however was the evening when we found somewhere to eat nearby called La Magione del Tau
Good communication with host. Great location. Spacious apartment in old building. Clean and well equipped kitchen.
The apartment is in the same Piazza as the well known restaurant La Magione dei Cavalieri, food there is excellent.
Really clean rooms, better than the pictures. It was really spacious and it was quiet around the property. Really convient to go both to Florence, Lucca and Pisa by car. Nice staff who accommodated nicely our very late arrival.
This hotel is well above the 1 star rating! Modern, clean, spacious room and bathroom, comfortable bed, good breakfast, host very helpful and personable -- a great stop on the Via Francigena!
it’s a basic hotel, it’s clean and comfy beds. the breakfast is basic and ok. could be more greens. loved the baby crib since it was on wheels and a bit higher from the floor. nice pool
A lovely stop on the Via Francigena. The hotel was comfortable. The host was excellent, personable and gave great recommendations for dining (La Dispensa was excellent!)
Nice property right on the Via Francigena. Just short walk in to Altopascio. Great hamburger spot ran by hipster couple in the square behind the church.
