Salvadonica, hotel in San Casciano in Val di Pesa

In the Chianti hills, this stone guesthouse features an outdoor pool and is in the rural hamlet of Salvadonica.

Salvadonica is a small medieval village that has rooms refurbished with modern equipment, the staying is absolutely great and the comfort pretty high. Having breakfast with the stunning view is definitely a plus, the choice and variety of food and drinks available are absolutely great. We dined also in the restaurant, we were happy with the food and the bottled wine, less happy with the wine by glass.

Relais Poggio Borgoni, hotel in San Casciano in Val di Pesa

Surrounded by peaceful vineyards and olive groves, Relais Poggio Borgoni offers an outdoor pool and a traditional restaurant, 16 mi south of historic Florence.

We liked everything. The welcoming, the traveling tips from the staff, the conversations with Francesco and the other staff members. It's a small place and with a charming early spring atmosphere and large and com comfortable room, made our 4 nights stay very special.

Perfect!!! Our stay was no less than amazing. The hosts, Amy & Massimo made us feel at home from the very first moment, spoiled us and knew what we need before we could ask. Amy's cuisine, yummy... "They ARE the place", says Fillipo, the owner, who was there every day and made sure we have the best local experience with vineyard and restaurant reservations and pointers to spots in the area. The room is super clean, maitained daily, the place is isolated from the town, very green, lots of nature and pool was open even in April. Thanks a lot. We will definitely come again when in Tuscany.

    Peaceful, with beautiful Vistas.

Peaceful, with beautiful Vistas. The Staff was outstanding with smiles and open arms for any assistance we needed. Cooking class was fun, learning many new things none of us had known with our delightful chef who was patient and knowledgeable. Dinner at the restaurant was full of wonderful foods. The perfect place to explore wineries and take it down a few notches to relax and unwind.

I would imagine that, like me, most people go there to visit the famous Antinori wine estate, one of the most spectacular & lavish wine estates for visitors in Europe, and one of the few that are comparable with what you would find in California, South Africa or South America. There's not a great deal else here that I am aware of - it's basically a few small villages. Good location for visiting other neighbouring parts of Chianti though. And, as noted in my review elsewhere of the Albergo Bargino, its attached fish restaurant, the Trattoria del Pesce, is worth a visit in itself.

This town in the middle of Tuscany is breath taking.

This town in the middle of Tuscany is breath taking. In the middle of everywhere yet close to Florence making your return to the airport very convenient. The area is surrounded by wineries, restaurants, pizzerias and gelato shops making the panorama painteresque and unique to the area. Perfect starting point for biking too. Must visit.

The location of the town was perfect for us, as we came to have our own wine tour. We had about a 30-40 minutes drive (tops) to each of our pins on the wine map we planned! There are vineyards all around :)

The area was lovely, with villas and wineries everywhere.

The area was lovely, with villas and wineries everywhere. Did some of our own cooking, but also ate out. A bus trip to Florence was worth doing. Driving to villages/places worked well. Castellina, Radda and Volpaia our favourites. Driving could be a little difficult on the narrow roads (for two cars to stay on the bitumen)... and buses. We were given a bottle of wine from our winery stay, and saw the beginning of the grape harvest.

We stayed here 5 nights for a wedding at a venue very closeby (castello il Palagio) and we very much enjoyed our stay. The family hosting was really kind, accommodating and helpful. They gifted us with a bottle of wine at our arrival! The appartment was very comfortable and well equipped, it was nice to be able to make our morning coffee and have breakfast outside every morning. The hot tub room was really beautiful and fun though there’s a fee for using it. If you’re looking for a homey, authentic experience of rural tuscany this is it!

Excellent rating! Great host, available at any time when needed with good information to make the stay even more pleasant. The house and the surroundings/ view are amazing. Every bedroom feels like in an hotel, own bathroom good airco and it looks all brand new. Great kitchen and 4 ! outdoor bbq’s. Swimming pool and nice outside ( also inside) dinning place makes everything complete. It is great to have so much privacy in the middle of the vineyards and be so close to Florence. We had a great time with two families (11 persons) !

Best breakfast we had for years - fresh and regional products, homemade cakes, cooked-to-order eggs - just excellent! Free parking, very nicely located on top of the hills with great view in the morning. Free heated pool with sauna. Free bathrobe and slippers. Very friendly and well English-speaking staff (not self-evident even in good Italian hotels!)

Super friendly and always helpful! Great dinner at place. Great location to chill out, but enough going on for the children (donkeys and a sheep, play area etc). Organic wine at place is worth trying. Overall it's a real agricultura (Vs some others which are more hotels) and it's very charming.

The stay at the farm was perfect in every way, the location, as it was close to Florence, tasty home-made breakfast, the Tuscan vibe and our hostess Gulia was so welcoming and helpful that it made our time in this unique part of the world unforgettable. I would gladly stay in Il Pintello again.

We stayed in an apartment about a 10-minute drive from the main hotel, accessed via a ride on a dirt road. The apartment was well equipped for our needs, including hosting a dinner for eight people. It featured amazing views and a pool that is a major highlight in the summer.
