Hotel Route-Inn Nakatsugawa Inter, hotel in Nakatsugawa

A Japanese restaurant with a free Japanese/Western breakfast buffet, a hot public bath and massage services await guests at Hotel Route-Inn Nakatsugawa Inter, a 7-minute drive from JR Nagatsugawa...

The place is fairly convenient. The room is clean and comfortable with all the amenities required for a short stay. Very polite and helpful staff, not to mention that the food is really nice! It comes with a complimentary breakfast but I had my dinner at the hotel as well and it was great.

Onn nakatsugawa, hotel in Nakatsugawa

Featuring 4-star accommodations, Onn nakatsugawa is located in Nakatsugawa, 8.1 miles from Ōi and 8.2 miles from Enakyo Wonderland.

This was my favorite hotel on this trip to Japan. Room was very comfy and had a great view from the 5th floor. Super clean and modern property. Shoes are left in lockers in reception area which keeps the carpets clean and footsteps quiet. Breakfast was included for me and there were lots of options in the buffet. Good location, about 10 minutes walking from train station and big grocery store. I used this as a base to hike sections of the Nakasendo Trail. Staff was very helpful and communicated well in English.

Guesthouse Nedoko, hotel in Nakatsugawa

Guesthouse Nedoko offers accommodations in Nakatsugawa, 13 miles from Ōi and 13 miles from Enakyo Wonderland.

The location is perfect! Magome is very special and it felt very unique sleeping here and being there at night with no tourists. The design of the hotel is also very nice. Everything worked perfectly and the staff was very kind and helped us with dinner reservations and with local recommendations. The Nakansendo trail to Tsumago was a highlight of our trip and I totally recommend spending a night/s here to do it :)

Guesthouse SHIGI, hotel in Nakatsugawa

Guesthouse SHIGI offers accommodations in Nakatsugawa, 29 miles from Gero Station and 15 miles from Ōi. This guest house provides free private parking, a shared kitchen, and free Wifi.

I loved everything about this place. Absolutely the highlight of my trip. And funny enough, there was no other guests so I had the whole place to myself! The town is very cute and the house is just incredible. It had everything a person could ask for in an accommodation. Everything works perfectly. The design is very beautiful. The house is even more beautiful in real life. I will never forget it. I think I told Assi how much I loved it too many times :) Assi was the most helpful host, he was very friendly, curious to know about my trip, he even picked me up from the station when I unfortunately missed the train. And dropped me off to the bus stop when I wanted to visit the near village. I hope to visit it again in future. Thank you again, thank you very much.

We stayed in Nakatsugawa in order to spend time walking on the Nakasendo Trail. It was a good home base for doing so! It’s possible to take a cab or a bus to the post towns to start your walk, or to end it. Nakatsugawa is also known for its abundant chestnut snacks and sweets which we sampled and truly enjoyed. It was really nice to be in a part of Japan that has fewer tourists and is more quiet.

This is about Magome Juku - not Nakatsugawa.

This is about Magome Juku - not Nakatsugawa. Frankly whilst it's quaint, picturesque and reasonably true to form it's frankly a bit of a tourist trap and quite crowded. The buildings are almost all souvenir shops or restaurant / tea houses. With a few exceptions many are selling the same stuff, usually at higher prices than can be bought elsewhere. Glad we went but won't return

As previously reviewed, we are still annoyed that we had to argue at length with the staff (over half an hour) to have the sofa bed made up with linen. Their policy apparently is to only provide linen when there are 3 guests sharing the room advertised as 'Double Bed plus Sofa' and confirmed in writing via booking.com that I had booked a room with 2 beds. The hotel was demanding further payment otherwise my friend and I were expected to share the bed. They eventually agreed to make an exception. The air con unit also only had instructions in Japanese and we found it impossible to turn it down The room was very small and the aircon unit sounded all night as if we were flying in an airplane.

Nakatsugawa was a very pleasant town with an excellent shopping centre and good restaurants. Soba noodle seem to be a specialty in many. It was also a handy base for taking a bus to Magome for the Nakasendo Way walk to Tsumago and in the opposite direction to Ochiai, via the historic stone-paved 800m road.

Our primary reason for visiting was the walk from Magome to Tsumago. It's a lovely outing. Very enriching to see Japanese countryside after the big cities of central Honshu. The quality and restfulness of Iwasu-so was an unexpected delight.

The old town was lovely and came over as very authentic.

The old town was lovely and came over as very authentic. Be prepared to walk about 20 mins from the main station to the historic part of town. The people were lovely. I was there on a VERY rainy Monday and not a lot was open but I did find a wonderful izakaya almost immediately over the road and the food was amazing. Good base for hiking out of Magome- get the early bus to skip the crowds in the trail. Magome won’t be open but by the time you get to the end of the trail there will be a nice Japanese man with hot steamed buns ready for you.

Front desk is superb. They have nicely folded origami to give out to little children - and my daughter was delighted! The rooms were nice and clean. We have two non-connected rooms, but as it was the peak travel season, we were glad we found a nice hotel like this one. Its location was also excellent. If you stay here, you must eat at the Prince Matsuba, Nakatsugawa - just opposite the hotel! During my entire stay in Chubu, this restaurant provides the best food at the most reasonable price and great servings.

This is someone's home with only two rooms available to rent, which makes the stay extremely unique and personal. I stayed two nights at the end of my hiking the Nakasendo, and just relaxed and enjoyed the traditional house. Not much in town, but the Okonomiyaki restaurant down the road was a treat, as i was welcomed by the owner and the guests and had a wonderful evening. SHIGI has only recently been renovated by the new owner, speaks great English is very helpful. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay!

On of the best stay we have in Japan, very clean room, bathroom, bathroom Everything is simple yet wonderful Great location in this small town Highly recommend for you that need clean moderen ryokan house Bathroom dan toilet is sharing, but not a together bathroom so if you cannot bath with other person together, this place is perfect. Because other ryokan usually have bathroom that take bath together.

The location is great, a short walk up to the town on Magome, this is a rural and scenic part of Japan. Our host Keiko was very welcoming and cooked an excellent dinner and breakfast for us on both days. The dinners were particularly memorable, great presentation and variety. The room was very spacious and we were looked after very well during our stay, a really authentic Japanese experience.

The accomodation was simple as I expected of an old style Japanese guest house. Which of course means that you need to go in understanding that the bedding is a futon so not the best nights sleep. Ok for one night and really, the location and town make up for that. So beautiful. Also the staff are just lovely and helpful. Highlight was the dinner and breakfast. Top quality!

What a fantastic stay we had!!! Keiko is a fantastic host, who cooks like a dream. Our favourite stay of our 3 weeks in Japan. The room we had was spacious and spotless. We walked to Tsumago and got the bus back so stayed 2 nights rather than doing baggage transfer. Use Nakatsugawa train station and get the bus to Magome Cannot recommend this place enough.

The location in Magome was incredible, the meals were incredible, and the owners very kindly changed our reservation to three people on the spot after I mistakenly booked for two! We loved our stay and would love to go back. Also - we were traveling with one vegetarian who was well fed at dinner and breakfast - this was sometimes hard to find in Japan.

Beautiful hotel in a beautiful part of the town, right on the Nakasendo Trail. Convenient parking. So much charm and character and the staff were lovely and super helpful. Dinner and breakfast were both amazing - definitely recommend getting these! Very comfy futon and pillow, decent sizeroom with large cupboard for bags.

This place is such a beautiful old Japanese style building and the area is serene! The interior of the house is simple and aesthetically soothing. Great location. Staying there meant that we could explore the town early in the morning and after 5 when the tourists left. A basic kitchen if you don't order meals or eat in restaurants but you need to bring food as only snack food is sold in Magome. Friendly, efficient staff.

Spacious apartment with our own kitchen and extremely comfortable futons (best of our trip by far!). Though there is no food available there, they were proactive in making us a dinner reservation in town. Host even hand delivered our luggage to our next hotel in Tsumago.

It was great staying in a traditional Japanese home from the 1600's. Dinner and breakfast were served to our "house" and the onsen was great as well. It is nice spending some time away from a city or town. You are surrounded by nature!
