Beautiful architecture, lots of green spaces, fairly compact. I participated in two free walking tours (an old town one and an art nouveau one) and both were great. If you're in Riga for just a couple of days, as it was the case with me, this is an excellent way to see and learn a lot.

Riga is a very attractive city with a picturesque Old Town and a newer area which includes many beautiful Art Nouveau buildings. There are many nice parks and green spaces. There are many bars, cafes and restaurants and prices are reasonable. As well as Latvian and Russian, English is widely spoken. Public transport - buses and trams - is very efficient and inexpensive. Walking around is easy though many areas in the Old Town are cobbled and might prove difficult for some. Riga is a very photogenic city.
Riga is a very photogenic city. The buildings are gorgeous and there are some great surprises when you explore on your on. I never take an organized tour. Plenty of restaurants. I cooked in most of my meals. But the food in the city is very good. Walk the Riga Canal! Always beautiful no matter what time of year. It's right in between the old town and the new area with all the good restaurants for locals. The room was really huge and it was decorated beautifully. The bed and pillows were comfy and there were chairs and a nice big TV with a ton of channels. The breakfast was great as well. I stay at hundreds of hotels per year and I LOVED this hotel. The spa is super clean and nice.
