Great location! We had a beach front room and there were bars across the street…I was warned at check in that there may be noise due to this, but it was fine, I enjoyed the music from the balcony and once I closed the sliding door you could barely hear it…we slept good! We enjoyed the pools after a busy day. We really enjoyed our breakfast in restaurant Paraiso, the restaurant was clean, the service great and food was delicious! A few minute walk from the hotel, but we enjoyed it!

A sweet, unpolished beach town. There are no huge multinational hotels on the beach, just low-rise local hotels and apartments. The strip along the beach feels relaxed, calm and slightly down-at-heel. It's easy to explore on foot. As two solo women travellers, we felt safe throughout our stay, though we didn't leave the tourist area. The beach itself is huge and very long, with incredible surf waves. There is a small beach area at the north end where it's possible to swim, but the waves are still quite big, especially for children. There are lifeguards all along the beach. There are nice restaurants right on the beachfront, all serving the same simple food. We only stayed two nights - I think at least four nights are needed to really relax and get used to the pace of life here. There are also several excursions nearby which would have been fun if we'd had more time!

A huge long beach, Zicatela is a lovely place but will change very soon with all the development and construction going on.
Already lots of bars, restaurants, shops and hotels, but still relatively chilled at the moment.
Beware of what you carry, police search anyone they can on the beach to extort money!!

Even if a relatively small town the neighbourhoods are very different; Centro where the hotel is, more local people, Bacocho (a bit more hipster was my impression), Zicatela the touristic part with a lovely beach and Brisas de Zicatela where its mostly backpackers and surfers (its just off Punta Zicatela where the best waves are)

It grew on me. I didn't love it at first.
It grew on me. I didn't love it at first. I think its more suited to younger people than people in their mid 40s + who have already done the backpacking thing. Also I live on a beautiful beach in Australia so it's hard to be impressed by grey sand of Zacatelas beach.. However Carrizalillo beach was beautiful. I recommend visiting that beach while you are there.
I felt like a bit of a sellout as Puerto is not the real mexico, there are more Australians and Americans there than Mexicans it seems. So if you want an authentic Mexican experience you should go to Puebla or Mexico city, but if your looking for a chilled vibe on the beach then you will probably like Puerto.
You'll find better food in other parts of the country also - Oaxaca city, Meixco city, Puebla etc.
It's very hot there. but there's nothing much else to do than hang at the beach.

Overall was great trip.
Overall was great trip. The town feels more international compared to other places I’ve visited in mexico, it lacks that authentic Mexican feeling. The hotel was great, tucked away from the Main Street, very peaceful.

Best falafels and hummus et El Sultan on the Rinconada.
Best falafels and hummus et El Sultan on the Rinconada. Best whole bean coffee as well as cappuccino and cookies at Binisa Cafe. As expats living in San Agustinillo, an hour away, we find things in Puerto that we cannot find in San Agustinillo, Mazunte, or Zipolite. We found some really excellent sharp cheddar cheese at Super 69 grocery on the Rinconada, cans of white meat whole tuna packed in water also at Super 69, bought beautiful Talavera tile for our bathroom at the Talavera store on the Rinconada, and picked up health food products like chia at one of the many small health food stores in Puerto that sell bulk goods.

Our entire stay was excellent. Not only our host were very helpful and friendly, they were always reachable and happy to help. The hotel was also very nice and well taken care of. Having a kitchen there was also amazing! Including access to water and coffe at any time. The pool was clean and the environment around the hotel in general was also great. The location of the hotel was excellent as the beach is just infront. May we visit Puerto Escondido again, we wouldn't hesitate to come back to the Swiss Oasis.
Villas Carizalillo is a beautiful spot in an incredible location overlooking the sea. It is well tended and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. Our villa -Oaxaca- had a great floor plan, and the indoor/outdoor spaces made the stay very pleasant. The beds were very comfortable, and the overall design attractive. The grounds surrounding the villas were also very well taken care of. Great convenient access to the prettiest beach around. We would love to return to this lovely place.
The staff, the beautifully decorated rooms and rooftop hammocks to relax in. This boutique hotel has such a relaxed and warm, welcoming vibe. I first stayed in Casa Beu in January and had to come here again for my second visit to Puerto Escondido. It's close to the main street in La Punta but far enough away for a quiet night's sleep. I almost don't want to let the secret out on how awesome this place is ;)
Everything was wonderful about Zandoyo! The owners and staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfasts were fantastic.
My room was very comfortable and the bathroom was very well designed with lots of space to put things.
The pool area had lovely landscaping and the guest kitchen was quite well supplied if you wanted to prepare a meal.
I highly recommend a stay here if you venture to Puerto Escondido!!
Our stay at Hotel Santa Fe was very nice. Rooms are comfortable, clean and with all the amenities. The beds could be a little more cushy, for the price you pay for the rooms, but I think this is the most common complaint, all around, when travelling in Mexico. The staff are very nice and very attentive and the location is very convenient and with lovely views of Zicatella beach, great for sunsets!
Best hotel we stayed in 4 weeks of our Mexico travel. Even got a free of charge upgrade to a superior room. Very nice pool and beautiful garden. Conveniently near to the airport. Its not in the tourist center - which is positive for us. It was more a residential neighborhood but only 2 blocks from a street with some nice restaurants and a great beach.
If you don't mind road noise the location is perfect to visit all of Puerto Escondido. The view is excellent and the staff were great for the most part. The breakfast was decent but it was better when you could order from a menu, they switched to a buffet-style breakfast halfway through our stay when the hotel got a bit busier
I loved this hostel so much. It was my favourite from my time in Mexico. It's really social but also has a kind of family vibe in the sense that you get to know lots of the other travellers staying there. Big shout out to the volunteers, and especially Fidel, for creating such a greate atmosphere. #Sorryball2022
I absolutely loved my stay at Casa Menta, the hosts were super helpful and always answered quickly to my messages. I miss all the great time I had in Casa Menta and all the amazing memories I made in Puerto Escondido with my beloved boyfriend, writing this review just makes me super nostalgic 🥹❤️.
. Short walk to Mercado that sold everything and where you could hop on a collectivo to get almost anywhere. Quiet. Wifi was the best we’ve had so far in Mexico . Not on the beach but super close. Could walk from the beach to beach and take the Colectivo home.
I liked the location and there was air con which was a huge bonus. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and allowed us to keep our luggage in the hotel after checkout, while we waited for transport out of Puerto Escondido.
this is like a luxury hotel while only paying basic hotel prices. the staff are wonderful. everyone from Bruno the “night guy” to the manager and room attendants. the attention to detail and decorative touches are exquisite.
400 peso cab ride to Zicatella or Puerto Escondido on a clean quiet neighborhood back street. It's owned and run by a local family and they are very hospitable and friendly. Rooms are clean and modern. My new go to in P.E.
The staff is super friendly and the place is very nice. We really enjoyed the time we were spending there. We could also borrow bikes to ride to the beach. This was one of our best stay in Mexico.
It was a 3 minute walk from where the van stopped coming from Oaxaca..very convenient. The hotel was clean, and had lots of hammock, a pool and a pretty chill vibe.
Super luxury, the drinks are spectacular , the Menu was super !
Bet is amazing , the rooms are super good , super welll decorated . The pool is splendid.
