Location was excellent . A good walk (3 km) to the busier Volendam and the walk along the water. Local shops nearby were worth visiting for cheese, chocolate, souvenirs, etc.. Ample outdoor seating adjacent to the canal on the hotel property. Rooms were elaborately decorated in the romantic style. Service was generally good - one waitress was outstanding. Restaurant was good. Beware if you order the appetizer platter - it's huge, plenty for two or three.

If you don't like long walks in the nature or birdwatching, Oosthuizen isn't so interesting it self but it's very close to surrounding towns and villages of Volendam, Edam, Marken, Hoorn and Amsterdam which makes Oosthuizen a perfect place to stay.
