Gorgeous place to stay, inside and out, in a quiet and remote village for relaxation with friends or family. Great retreat space for small groups and events, or a cozy getaway for couples. Luxuriously comfortable beds, exquisite and well equipped kitchen and dining area, spacious and beautiful areas inside and out for fun and recreation. The hosts were gracious. Situated just outside of Chavez and near the Spanish border, this is a perfect jumping-off point for journeys around northern Portugal, and seems to be a hub of activity around the town, especially the restaurant. The restaurant was lovely and had huge portions of regional cuisine. The staff is incredibly nice, and the proprietor is a genial host. Just a great slice of life in northern Portugal.

The hotel is just outside the old town. It is right on the river. There is free parking. The room was spacious and comfortable with views of the river and if we craned to the side we could see the castle. Breakfast was great with specialties from the region as well as the basics. Very good value.
