Staff went above and beyond and were so kind and helpful. The location needs no explanation and every detail was thought through.

The Quinta de Sao Luiz, where we were staying, made a reservation for us at a restaurant in Tabuaco. The drive to the restaurant was challenging due to the serpentine road and rainy weather. I don't think there was much to do in that small town, but we had an okay experience at the restaurant.

The trip to the Quinta was through some wonderful rambling winding roads in the Douro valley. There are many places to visit there, and although we thought the location was perfect, some might like a location closer to town and not so far from Porto.

Town in the hills, great view, beautiful park with a small fountain with 6 turtles and a turtle men who takes care of them (btw. he looks as a turle too 😄).
Our favourite place for dinner was Taverna next to a lovely church, which makes you laught in the evening between 8 And 9, how many it rigs the bell. Sisters who ran the Taverna are incredibly friendly and the food is amazing.
Don't Miss the chance to see the Most peculiar astronomical clock in the Information centre, which Is made by local cloackman. It is an absolutely unique masterpiece, only seen in Tabuaço and the lady from the Information centre will explain you all about it, except after the death of the creator, nobody can fix it 😄

If you are visiting the Douro Valley this town is not very far by kilometres but the road is slow with switch backs. If you intend to use it as a base to explore the Valley it is not the right place. The town itself is quaint it’s just a bit of a drive.
We wanted a quaint but fulfilling getaway in Douro Valley. We spent part of our honeymoon at this property and are thrilled that we did.
The views are incredible. The cottage we stayed in had a kitchenette, a living area with a view and a porch that was hard to leave.
This stay requires a drive and the closest restaurants are about a 15-minute drive but if you bring a few items for meals, it simplifies the travel. Anywhere you stay in the “mountains,” a remote experience is expected. We loved Edna, who runs the property.
The property is fabulous! it’s like being in small luxury boutique hotel. The location is fantastic on a vineyard, the views are beautiful!
The room was beautifully appointed, with lash robes etc. There is a pool with the view of the vineyards.
The pre fix dinner was delicious ($40 pp), the wine you can buy on the premises delicious. you can have a wine tasting at certain times.
And something what we noticed and it’s unusual: amazing pillows!!! yes, pillows were great!
Overall amazing stay!
We liked everything! A little paradise in the heart of Douro! The view from the property is amazing on the vineyards and the Douro valley. The house is very clean and well equipped. I personally enjoyed the quality of the bed and the bed linen. The swimming pool is perfect to relax. There is a barbecue available which is perfect to grill some fish or meat! The village is very quiet and peaceful. If you want to immerse yourself into rural Portugal, it is the perfect place.
This small hotel with its nice common dining and lounge room, great breakfasts and comfortable rooms is good value. Tabuaco itself is quite a nice local town as a more reasonably-priced base for the Douro Valley. There is a very helpful laundromat just a block away. Staff are not permanently stationed at the hotel so it was not generally possible to ask them questions or receive tourist advice, or where we did they directed us to the tourist office.
Magical place! Stunning house with pool on the grounds of a great Quinta overlooking the Douro. It‘s the only guest accomodation on the wine producing Quinta at the moment, tastefully decorated. Patricia is a great host. She has been walking us through the wine, explaining everything. The wine tasting had been wonderful, the elegant wines absolutely great. We definitely recommend this place to everyone looking for a quiet, relaxing stay.
This was a very nice hotel, and great value.
The room was very nicely done up. The shower pressure was excellent & the bathroom was very clean.
Breakfast was advertised as featuring local products. I don't know about that but it was a good spread. Pumpkin coconut jam was excellent & quince jelly was pretty good too. The unlabelled conserves and white cheese were good too.
We booked this hotel last minute and got a sweet deal. Everything is brand new. Your stay includes a free tour of the vineyard and cellars… best wine tour we’ve ever had. Our guide answered every single one of our questions and explained every part of wine making.
The room was very clean and the bed was the most comfortable we’ve had in our whole trip ! 10/10
Spectacular location overlooking the Douro River. Stunning facility with well appointed rooms and welcoming common areas and outdoor terraces. Wonderful architecture and a very friendly resident cat. The whole place was gorgeous. The food and wine were excellent and the staff couldn’t have been more accommodating.
We loved the 4 days at Quinta da Padrela Winery House - everything from the location (which is a great base in which to explore the rest of the Douro) to the Quinta to the highly entertaining and animated wine tasting given by Jose Rodriguez to the great wines, olive oil and cheeses. It was really special:)
Edna is an amazing host!! Thank you so much for everything 🤍
- incredible views
- quiet and spacious accommodation with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms
- fridge is stocked with breakfast items and fresh bread delivered to your door in the morning
- wine tasting was a highlight
It's a beautiful property inside and out -- many excellent design decisions. We enjoyed walking around the Adorigo village (Tabuaço district) an authentic Douro neighborhood. It's a fun ten minute drive up twisty roads from the river at Quinta do Tedo.
A charming hotel in a picturesque town in the middle of the Douro Valley. It was a pleasure to meet a charming hostess who made every effort to help us and make our stay enjoyable, despite not speaking English.
The location is simply magnificent. Tabuacos has some small restaurants and bars, but Regua and Pinhao provide a little more option. The vineyards are beautifil and welcoming (albeit for a price)
The cottage at Quinta do Esphino was absolutely amazing. Ana was the most welcoming and helpful host ever. The vineyard grounds and the location in the Douro are perfect.
Beautiful quinta in a fantastic location, with a wonderful view over the Douro river that can be enjoyed from the infinity pool. Fine dining in the restaurant.
