Location was just fine, maybe too far to walk to "downtown" but a super quick car ride. Plus, there are food options within walking distance. Simple, no frills accommodations but very comfortable and for the price; we were able to book two rooms instead of one so our teens didn't have to share a bed.

Blacksburg is the location of Virginia Tech, a major university. The city revolves around the university. It is in a rural area near the Blue Ridge Mountain and major highways. The main reason for going to Blacksburg would probably be related to the university.

It's a lovely college town with several historic things to see and a beautiful horticultural garden. I was pleasantly surprised that the Smithfield plantation tour really strove to tell the lives of the enslaved people who were there and not just the owners. There is hiking and kayaking within less than half an hour. I recommend the hike to Cascade Falls and kayaking on the New River. Also, there are two wineries nearby. We also happened to be there for the solstice festival, where several streets were blocked off, and there was music, food vendors and craft booths. We went to an excellent Brazilian restaurant called Gaucho's that's in an unremarkable looking strip mall, but don't be fooled -- it's the best food I've eaten in a long time!

Blacksburg is a small town with a lot to offer! The food and activities are abundant! We always go to Cabos , The cellar, and Mill Mountain coffee to eat. But there are so many other great places; Mellow mushroom, Greens, top of the stairs, Carol Lee Donuts...etc. My VT alumni tells me the hiking and apple picking is convenient, lots of grocery stores, and boutiques. The town is very friendly and clean. I see why my kids all attended VT. You can't beat the comradery during the VT football games; the game itself is electric!!

Love Blacksburg.
Love Blacksburg. Dropped off my daughter for the move-in at VT. Had some downtime to visit nearby attractions. VT itself is a beautiful campus. Tried out a few restaurants in downtown Blacksburg. Even with social distancing we were able go out and dine out and enjoy the country!

Blacksburg is a perfect example of how a university town...
Blacksburg is a perfect example of how a university town should be. It is walkable, beautifully landscaped and well maintained. Everyone is wearing Virginia Tech colors and logos. There is a definite sense of pride and love for the area and the university.
Despite my daughter testing positive for Covid right before we were supposed to go to Blacksburg, the rude front desk staff would not let us cancel our reservation for 2 nights without paying nearly the entire amount in fees. Booking.com tried to help but the front desk manager refused. So we ended up paying nearly $700 for nothing, and I am furious. I guess they don't care if we show up with covid. Even if my daughter ends up going to Tech, I will never, ever, ever stay at this place.
Everything is exactly the way it should be. It was a holiday weekend they were sold out. So I paid the published rate. Which was a little high for just a clean standard hotel. But every staff person was engaging and pleasant. Housekeeping right across from our room was so quiet we were surprised to see them when we exited. A dog excited to be going out barked at 5 am and woke us but it was a quite and we fell back to sleep. us.
My stay at Red Carpet Inn- Blacksburg was PERFECT!! The place was clean, tidy, cozy (yet with ample space in the room for me and my mom), and the location couldn’t have been more ideal! The manager was the most excellent person!! Always very kind and polite, and he went out of his way to help us whenever we had a question or matter. I’ll recommend this place every time, and it will definitely be a go-to for my family in the future.
location is great, but the money we paid less cheaper hotel have a better breakfast and all day coffee services. at checking the staff even don't bother to tell us there is breakfast even it is not that good breakfast you have
I really enjoyed the accommodation. It is well located. Easy to have public transport to the University or other nearby places. The family that runs the hotel is friendly and kind. Always willing to help us. I recommend.
Location is great. Walk to shops and eateries. No bottled water. No on site parking. I did not like walking from parking garage across street to hotel late at night. Staff is friendly, rooms clean bit dark.
Excellent location downtown Blacksburg! Restaurants in walking distance so no need to get your car out of the garage all the time. Still very guiet hotel. Spacious room with separate sitting area
The hotel’s location, cleanliness, rooms, and facilities was great. The staff, meals, and social hour was delicious and fun! We met great people. Thank you and we will return! We enjoyed our stay.
The Inn was in a perfect location in Blacksburg. Staff were warm and friendly. The check in was very smooth. Nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely book again.
Location was perfect and walking distance to where we needed to be on campus. Very clean, modern, and the fitness facilities were better than most hotels I stay in.
The rooms were clean. Owners were super nice. Nothing fancy but was super close to we’re we needed to be and a lot cheaper than most surrounding hotels.
