Calumet is a good town for a home base while visiting the area. It is steeped in mining history with many historic places to visit. There is a pretty good shopping district and a handful of good food choices. It is apparent that Calumet was a "show place" for the mining company. It was built to entice workers and investors. The decline of the mining industry is also very apparent along with the strength and determination of those who stayed. Drive the coast to Copper Harbor. Take 26 and Brockway. Stop at the Jampot! Visit Eagle Harbor Lighthouse.
