We checked-in early and front-desk woman was very pleasant and helpful. Very good First Impression. Place looked fresh and inviting. Everything nearly perfect for this 'level of lodging.' Later that same evening I stopped by and let the woman at front desk I would be giving the place a very good rating. Would I stay there again? Absolutely: Yes. And would recommend (with qualifications under "What didn't you like?").

DeFuniak Springs is a great location for visiting several different springs or hiking areas. The winery was awesome! Downtown DeFuniak Springs was awesome. I enjoyed walking downtown and visiting the restaurants and reading the history of the homes around the lake circle.

The room was filthy, we had to switch to another room due to the disgusting state of first room! The chair had no legs and was black with dirt. The second room was not any better! I did not take shoes off for floor was so gross! Hair on bathroom floor and dirty toilet with feces in it! I booked for two nights but left after first and lost $150 . Worst most disturbing hotel stay ever!

The little downtown of Defuniak Springs is so cute.

The little downtown of Defuniak Springs is so cute. We enjoyed walking it. Lots of yummy restaurants. They have a round lake in the middle surrounded by beautiful victorian homes. Its only about 25 to 30 mins from the beautiful beaches! About 45 mins to destin and a little over an hour to Panama City Beach. They have springs within about 20 mins and even a waterfall in the area. We had an amazing vacation!

Beautiful natural springs in the area.

Beautiful natural springs in the area. Vortex was recently closed to the public and turned into a bear sanctuary because the owners were sick to death of all the drunk rednecks constantly fighting and tearing up the place. Kudos to them. I think I'd rather hang out with a bunch of bears if given the choice between the two. The local population is swimming in the shallow end of the gene pool, if ya know what I mean. One only need take a trip to the local Walmart to see this sadly display in technicolor. Humble and impoverished, with not much going for it other than a handful of mediocre (at best) fast food restaurants by the interstate, a few lovely historical homes, and the area springs.
