I think the hotel may have been refreshed. Everything looked bright and clean, it is easy to find, easy to park, conveniently placed for the city center, the fairgrounds and anywhere else local.
The room was huge and well appointed, with USB ports aplenty. I especially liked the cleansing bar in the bathroom, very creamy and luxurious.
The breakfast was good; make your own waffle, cereals, sausage, biscuits and gravy, nice choice of breakfast pastries and breads.
Plus, it is pet friendly!
For the price we paid I think it was a good deal.

This pet friendly location was great for some 2-3 night work trips. The coffee shop thats connected is perfect for early morning latte and some breakfast options. Then the are is easy to walk my dog around. The first and second streets are a 10-15 min walk as well with paved paths which I enjoyed. A few dog friendly breweries and places to get food togo/patio also walkable. The rooms were clean and the fridge/microwave/tv/wifi all worked well.

The breakfast is one of the best parts. They gave me my room when I first showed up before 10 a.m. That was really nice. Staff are very nice.
A great little town, people are friendly and helpful.
A great little town, people are friendly and helpful. The Fred Meyer store even gave us a discount, with out having to apply for the card.
The Fairgrounds Inn is close to the train tracks, which made train watching more fun, and comfortable beds. The Buzz in Pub is a great place to eat, food is delicious, hot and plenty of it. My buddy and I were here in Feb 2020, just before the pandemic, and we are back in Feb 2023, and we will return Feb 2024, See you all then.

Great small town with friendly people.
Great small town with friendly people.
Good food to be found. For breakfast I recommend Hwy 2 Fusion Diner a wonderful choice of Mexican breakfast foods ( the heuvos ranchero was excellent) and traditional breakfast foods (my choice was the veggie omelette while my hubby had the Lumberjack omelette). The service was excellent the staff very accommodating for special dietary needs.
For dinner head to Banjarong Thai Restaurant, (curries to die for) as above excellent service and staff.

Overall, Monroe is a small rural city on a state highway.
Overall, Monroe is a small rural city on a state highway. I have passed through here for many years on my way east to hike and to ski in the winter at Stevens Pass. This place works for a jumping off point or a pass through. This trip was an over-nighter to run a half marathon the next morning in Snohomish. The old town (main street) is like a lot of rural and/or farming towns with older brick buildings and mom and pop businesses. Also, there may be other tourist attractions. If you want highway commercial you will find it. All the eating places were full and over crowded. I bought my dinner at the grocery store and went back to the motel. The city is evolving and expanding with newer residential areas.

My friend and I were in town for the annual train show.
My friend and I were in town for the annual train show. We stayed at the Fairgrounds inn and shopped at Fred Meyers, ate at the Buzz Inn restaurant, and fueled up at the AM/PM gas station. The service was top notch everywhere, served by friendly and polite people. It was totally refreshing. It was quick and easy to get around and everything was in walking distance from the motel, except for the train show, which was a short 5 min drive away. We look forward to returning and spending more time In Monroe.

What was once a sleepy country town has been overtaken by...
What was once a sleepy country town has been overtaken by traffic and a bit of sprawl. However, the old downtown just two blocks off the main drag has plenty of restaurants and small shops. On the opposite side of the main drag are Fred Meyers, chain restaurants & fast food, movies, Harbor Freight and more. In downtown, try the Tiajuana Mexican-style restaurant. This family-owned place has great food, friendly staff, and a relaxed atmosphere. The food is cooked down to Northwest tastes BUT they were happy to make their family-recipe mole more spicy for me in traditional central Mexican style.
Despite still being under COVID restrictions, the staff at the hotel made it feel so welcoming. From an easy check-in to breakfast with a smile, to complimentary race tickets for Evergreen Speedway, the employees of this hotel made us feel like we were VIP guests! The location is tucked back off Highway 2 so noise wasn't an issue. Breakfast was tasty and included a warm breakfast sandwich or burrito. The room was very clean and comfortable.
The breakfast is fantastic! We stayed for a week and the food was always different. Eating breakfast with the view is a good start every day. We also went fishing in the private backward (it's huge!) multiple times which was pretty fun. The room is sparkling clean and has enough rooms. The host was the best! We definitely recommend the hotel and would like to stay again.
Bed was very comfortable. We were in the back of the building and it was very quiet, a couple trains went thru but didn't last long. The only thing that took away from the value was the breakfast. We have stayed in many hotels with about the same price with at least some juice and fruit. We appreciated all the grab bars in the tub area.
The location was great, the staff were pleasant, plenty of places to eat around this hotel. It was comfortable, nice big beds, love the indoor pool! The breakfast was great, need more choices for children’s cereal. Other than that. This is our number 1, place to stay! Also the other guest’s were very nice and personable
Absolutely the best host ever!

a fantastic full breakfast every day; the food was amazing
the room was very clean, roomy and comfortable
This place at first you would think oh it’ll be okay. After staying here over and over again we love coming here! The Continental Breakfast is awesome. They offer Sunny D, Greek Yougurts, a great assortment of Bagels, hard boiled eggs, cereals, fruits and much more
Way to go Fairground Inns
Very friendly and helpful family owned hotel. Quiet. I was initially concerned about the trailer park surrounding the units but they turned out to be quiet friendly neighbors. It’s a place to stay if you really need one. Coffee pot and coffee in the room. Clean bathroom.
The hotel is the cleanest I've been in. The breakfast is a nice treat also. The staff is great. Kim was so awesome making sure my stay was great. She recommended a great local place for breakfast. I will definitely be back again!
The owner was quite friendly. It was nice to have a pet friendly place with a large back yard with a creek for the dog to play in and to relax by. The rooms are quite large and an amazing value compared to most places now days.
