The location of Sand Bar Cottage Inn was amazing. Only 1-2 blocks to the middle Bar Harbor's restaurant and shop scene. The innkeeper, Chris, was SUPER! It was quiet compared to Bar Harbor and very peaceful. There were many shops and a few restaurants. The marina was lovely. Bar Harbor and Acadia were just minutes away. I would stay in Northeast Harbor again.

Northeast Harbor is a quaint village with nice shops and a few restaurants. The harbor is active with many pleasure boats and commercial fishing/lobstering boats. A quiet and restful place compared to the business of Bar Harbor.

This is a beautiful and quiet community.

This is a beautiful and quiet community. Pretty shops and within walking distance to beautiful Asticou Azalea Gardens. We took a great boat tour out of Bass Harbor, drove the stunning Sargent Drive along Somes Sound, and visited several areas of Acadia NP. We appreciated the peaceful ambience of the area.

This is a tiny town on the opposite side of Acadia from Bar Harbor. We did still travel to Bar Harbor for most meals, it was only about 20 mins away and we didn’t mind at all. But if you want to be in the bustle of the action then NE harbor wouldn’t be a good fit.

We had a private retreat in the evening. Breakfast foods were varied and set out for access during day. Separate, outdoor entrance to our room at the inn was nice. Kitchen was great if you prepared food in it. Ground floor room was appreciated. Power strip near bed and dining table helped, but we needed to bring our power strip to reach the table to use our computers. Fireplace Wood was available in room. Lightweight quilt was available at desk. Staff was quick to fix internet when it went down after being notified.

The room on the first floor with direct access to the lawn, pool, etc was very nice. We really enjoyed the comfort of the front porch for a nighttime drink and the possibilty to sleep with the terrace doors open rather than with the ac on. The proximity to Acadia NP combined with the quietness of Northeast Harbor is probably unmatched. We were also very happy the restaurant at the resort.

The Colonels Suites rooms we had were clean, spacious, nicely decorated and very comfortable. We visited Northeast Harbor off season, so most eateries were closed. But, the Pine Tree Market met our need for fresh fruits, vegetables, sandwiches, drinks, etc. and we loved being near to Asticou Garden and the pretty harbor.

My mother left some personal information and the cleaning staff returned it to us. It was very much appreciated and it's nice to know there are still honest people around. Also, the location was excellent! We loved being close to Barb Harbor but not in the middle of it. This was a quiet neighborhood.
