There is no beach in the bay. You have to travel further afield. It would be good to know when your chosen hotel/accommodation is on a steep hill. Cat Ba has a great little market, a few good restaurants, good foot massage and friendly folks

Cat Ba is a nice spot to just chill.
Cat Ba is a nice spot to just chill. There is good accommodation around and lots of eating place to choose from. You can also spend 8 hours cruising on the bay if you wish with lunch included. The cruise was very enjoyable. Oasis restaurant on the main street is a great place to eat, drink or have a cup of coffee. The food is great there. They have a pool table there and it's free to play. If you want to go to the beach, it's near the Flamingo Resort which is a 20 minutes walk to the left of the main road if you're facing the bay.

The full day trip on Lan ha bay with canoeing was exceptional - what a magnificent area, clear water, no rubbish and beautiful seascapes. The hike into the National park was brilliant and well worth the effort. Easy to do on your own without a tour. The two caves were well worth the visit. We did arrive by night bus in the morning and they directly did offer us a breakfast while they were preparing our room for early check-in. The staff is very customer focused and speaks good English. On the first day they did tell us about the highlights of the island and tips how to get to them. They did help us arrange the buss to Ninh Binh and we did rent scooters for a good price, so we could easily travel all over the island.MickNetherlands

They organized the transfer of ours to the port to capture the cruise as well as rented us a motor scooter so we might fly all over the island for the morning. I was going to stay for 2 nights and I stayed 5. I also booked the tour with them for a very good price and it was very nice. Cát Bà is a very lovely island, with amazing beaches and lovely views and really deserves a visit.

The people over there are very service oriented and share lots of activities you can do on the island. Breakfast is basic, but definitely good. The location is also perfect since you can easily walk everywhere, but since it’s not in a busy street you don’t have any noise.
