It was a last minute booking yet the response time was quick. The lodge is beautiful, neat and well maintained. Plus, provisions are made to ensure that you're not in the dark during loadshedding.
It's perfect for short stays. The rooms are spacious and have AC.

This is my second stay here. Three years ago it was bustling, the restaurant was open and the facility in top shape. There is definitely neglect and it is a big shame that the restaurant is closed

Gareth was a consummate host. From the moment we arrived we were treated like royalty. Canapés prepared in the kitchen served at 6 pm daily with wine from an excellent selection. Gareth and Grant took the trouble to chat to us while we ate the delicious snacks. We felt like special guests welcomed into their beautiful home.
The breakfasts were a highlight with different fare every day. Omelettes, mini-quiches and other hot egg-baked dishes. All mouth-watering .
For my birthday my daughter and son-in-law joined us for a specially catered lunch. Slow roasted Osso Buco was perfect. A lot of time and effort went into making the lunch memorable
Every room is furnished with treasures which must have been chosen with care over a long period. My wife, who gardens, marvelled at the garden the variety of plants and the beauty with which it was layed out.
A slice of heaven on earth. We hope to return soon

The location is very, very beautiful and peaceful. The bedroom is a decent size. The bed is very comfortable and the nights are quiet, with no road noise. Bruce is lovely; very warm and welcoming. For a short-term stay, the accommodation is good.

Full of lovely restaurants and wine and olive farms nearby to visit.
We particularly enjoyed eating at The Royal Hotel. The food and the service, as well as the ambience was exceptional.
I would suggest that 2 days is enough time to spend in Riebeek- Kasteel.

Loved the restaurants - Royal Hotel/ La Parrilla/ Beans for Coffee and The Valley Deli were all exceptional and very much cost effective. Our win for the trip was Kloovenburg Wine Farm, stunning facilities with good tasting options for both Wine and Olives, fantastic value for money and staff were very friendly and accommodating.

Montpellier is definitely worthwhile to visit.
Montpellier is definitely worthwhile to visit. We enjoyed the MCC tasting and cheese board at the Bouval restaurant.
Other places to visit: close to Riebeeck-Kasteel: Eightfeet village, Bosjes, Botha Kelder and Marras.
Our visits to Franschoek and Boschendal were however a disappointment. It was just too busy and probably better to visit outside the festive season.

Loved the cleanliness and comfort of the room and the communal areas. Everything was very well set up for loadshedding - the lights, the Internet, the TV and most essential functions worked even when the main power was off for some time. Great facilities available and a short walk to the main road yet very peaceful. I booked this room at the last minute because the other accommodation I booked in Riebeek-Kasteel was too noisy so I am very glad I stayed @ La Montagne as I got an excellent night’s rest!
Beautifully appointed guesthouse with a fabulous homemade breakfast (freshest ingredients locally sourced). We needed to leave for an early morning business meeting , Antonio went out of his way to accommodate us, which we appreciated, thank you Antonio. Perfect location, close to Hotel to have sundowners, restaurants are close by to walk to for dinner. I loved the beautiful linen and cleanliness of our room. I highly recommend this establishment!
It was a wonderful experience to stay in such a beautiful guesthouse which is so tastefully and artistically decorated. Our room was equipped with everything we needed and spotless clean. Breakfasts were outstanding and of high quality. The service was impeccable and the hosts very friendly. Will definitely stay again at 1 Royal Street Guesthouse when visiting Riebeek-Kasteel next time.
We loved our stay at Kokos Huis. We intended to stay for 3 nights, but extended our stay with 2 more nights. The staff does anything to make your stay amazing, we even received a tailor-made itinerary with recommendations in Riebeek-Kasteel and surroundings prior to our stay. Breakfast is also great! We stayed in the family room which is spacious if you intend to stay with kids.
The studio we stayed in was easily accessible from where our vehicle was parked. The facilities in the studio were adequate for what we required for a one night stay, the aircon was welcome after a hot day in Riebeek-Kasteel!
The gardens and pool were beautifully kept and we enjoyed a nice swim in the afternoon. Our hosts were very friendly.
Very easy to check in, friendly staff, beautiful room, loved everything about it, garden is beautiful, lovely atmosphere, liked the fact that I could have my tea in the garden.
Very central, close to the restaurants, shops, 200 m from the Royal Hotel, where we had a fabulous lunch. Safe parking behind a gate. We will definitely be back soon.
Good location close (within walking distance) to many popular restaurants and shops, only a short distance from all the wine and olive tasting venues. Very friendly hostess and easy check-in arrangements. Heated wall panel and electric blankets were ideal to battle the icy winter weather.
no breakfast was provided, but we went to the local hotel, which was excellent
the beds were very comfortable and the accommodation very clean.
netflix was accessible on the television
The hosts gave us plenty of extra information and recommandations for activities and restaurants. They even have us a bottle of mosquito repellent after we told them we had been bitten.
Well appointed rooms, superb food, well trained staff, excellent spa treatments and central location in an historical setting are just some of the plus points of this lovely hotel.
Simple and cozy room in a quiet residential area in Riebeek-Kasteel, just a 10 minute walk from the main square. The hosts were friendly and extremely helpful.
