Walking to the city center takes around 2 hours and Mount Eden around 45 minutes. However, if you're not feeling like a long walk, the bus stop and train station are very close by and connect well. There is also a big mall on walking distance. Helena, the host, is very friendly and has so many stories to share. If you have some spare time, it is wonderful to spend some time with her. Even if she is unavailable, big ol' slobbery Fred is there to keep you company. Fortunately, Helena has a positive attitude towards sustainability. The bed was very comfortable and having a spacy private bathroom was also a positive surprise (it is not shared, but somehow it cannot be changed on Booking.com). Although I only cooked once, the kitchen is fully equipped. Sharing the house with a host is not the same experience as a hotel or hostel, but somewhere inbetween. I can recommend it.
