Beautiful traditional house with a central hearth to sit around for chatting and meals. There was an outdoor bath as well! The hosts Akira and wife No-No are warm and open introducing to us their clean organic dishes of home grown rice, miso soup and pickles. The walking tour they brought us around are beyond our expectations. There was matcha tea with traditional Japanese sweets as well as a healthy Bento picnic in a garden! Ayabe is peaceful and scenic with lovely locals keen to welcome you😃

Nestled in a small village in the Kambayashi area surrounded by mountains and a clear river, Satoyama Guest House Couture offers accommodation in Ayabe, the northern part of Kyoto Prefecture. The owners are very helpful. They recommended me many local tourist spots. They can also help to coordinate with local communities for different kinds of workshops. Really enjoy staying here

Homecooked meals were delicious using fresh ingredients from the farm. Nicolas and Sayaka are very good hosts, very engaging, sincere and warm. Enjoyed talking to them, and hearing their stories. Place is clean, cosy and well kept in a lovely countryside.
