This is an amazing place to stay and ski from. The other guests were awesome and we pulled together to share this gorgeous space. Highly recommended! Kitchen is lovely and the dining/living room is spacious and comfortable. Very responsive host, attended to everything very quickly. I asked for clean linen after a week and it arrived same day.

Surrounded by nature, Boken Kazoku is a traditional 90-year-old building with a terrace and a playground with mountain views. It offers a range of water sports, concierge services and free-use bicycles. A free shuttle is available from/to JR Kutchan Station and Niseko Grand Hirafu Ski Resort. The bus stop to go to Rusutsu Ski Resort is in front of the property.

I guess I didn’t read the description but it’s a really cool property, it’s an old school turned into a hostel. The owners were extremely nice and communicated everything well. There a bus stop for both directions at the entrance making it very accessible to either town. When I got hurt and had to go to the hospital the grandma at the property who used to be a nurse helped re bandage my ankle after the hospital didn’t do a good job and everyone checked on me every day. It was really sweet.

Located a 10-minute bus ride from JR Kutchan Railway Station, My Ecolodge offers simple yet cosy rooms with free WiFi. The property offers free private parking and shuttle service to local ski areas from December to March. Activities including golfing and skiing can be enjoyed at the Niseko Village located a 12-minute drive from the property.

Twin and double rooms come with an en suite bathroom, while quadruple rooms have shared bathrooms. Some rooms have bunk beds with a power outlet and a reading light.

They offered a big ski storage room, large enough dining room where you can bring your own food (although we were half board and were happy with the cuisine). There seem to be enough parking space in front and they offer shuttle to the ski area each morning.

Looking for a hostel?

Budget travellers know that there is no better way to make the most of their trip than by staying at a hostel: save money for exploring during the day, and swap stories with fellow backpackers in the shared kitchen or bar in the evening. Dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathrooms are standard hostel fare, but private rooms are also available for those willing to pay a bit more.

The hotel was spotlessly clean, amazing cleaning staff. Great buffet breakfast, though pretty much identical every day. Great location next to Max Value (supermarket) and Daiso. Appreciated the in-room humidifier. Wonderful shuttle to and from the mountain. This is one of the few remaining affordable accommodation options in Niseko. Having first come in 2005, every trip I end up staying further and further out. However, as Niseko has westernised over the years, I much prefer the charm and real Japaneseness of Kutchan.

The premises is a hostel that caters for skiers during Winter. We had the tatami beds in a private room and if we can cope aged 57 and 60 anybody can! It was the cheapest we could find but we enjoyed, aside from the cold showers, but it was cheap in comparison 😀

Great location if you want to travel to more than just niseko as long as you have a car. Super clean and central in Kutchan for all the restaurants and night life. Be prepared that the rooms are very tight, especially with snowboard bags and luggage but as long as you set it up so that everything goes back in its place it’s a great little room. We’ll be back next time we’re in Hokkaido!

The location and the staff were absolutely superb. I would absolutely stay there again if I return to Niseko. Very welcoming and warm family who run the place which felt more like a hotel than a hostel. Excellent value for money.

The house is beautiful and cosy feeling and Ryo keeps the whole place super clean and well maintained. The beds were comfy and rooms were well heated. Kitchen was sufficiently equipped with all you need. The location was good, near to the JR Kutchan station, a supermarket and a 7-11. Ryo also provides daily morning shuttle to Hirafu, which is highly appreciated. Most remarkably Ryo is a friendly and helpful host, and a wonderful cook too :) This is one of the best hostel we have stayed in!
