The Upper West Side location was perfect for us - a real neighborhood with parks and relative quiet, out of the craziness of midtown (and near family) and with lots of nice small restaurants and shops. The hotel is a recent redo of an old building, a much needed hotel of charm, character and quality on the UWS. It could not have been nicer - a very friendly warm welcome from the manager Justin and associate Jasmine, a spectacular suite (thank you for the upgrade!) with a nice NYC view and lots of comfort and convenience details. I’m already recommending the Wallace to friends

Sadly, there's now a policy that unless you are a NYC resident/student it will cost more than a nominal donation to enter. Before, IF you read the fine print of the entry fee schedule you could offer what you chose to pay and spent whatever amount of time you wanted to spend in this incredible museum. Now, with the price of entry ... a family of 4 is looking at over $100 ... you pretty much feel you must spend enough time to make it worth the price of entry. I used to love dropping in for an hour, or so and catch one section, then drop back in a day, or so later on my trips to catch another. Don't really want to spend HOURS inside. Overwhelming.

    Always worth a visit.

Always worth a visit. The map doesn't show you all the artists at each room, only the period. So ask at the information desk and they will tell you the main artist at every room and you won't loose your preferred ones.

The line to get in looked very long, but it moved quickly with the security and Covid checks being handled in an efficient and friendly way. This museum is not to be missed. I like it as well or better than Musee D'Orsay!

If you really like art, you will need several trips to see the massive collections thoroughly. Highly recommend that you buy a membership ahead of time, not only will you save money on multiple visits, but you can use the members entrance and jump the line. Hopefully they will reopen the members dining room in the not too distant future. Truly on par with the world's great art museums like the Prado, Louvre, Kunsthistorische, and UK National Gallery.
