We arrived at 10 pm and they arranged a tour for us for the next day, including a private guide. In the morning they were so kind to make us a lunch package as we were leaving early. Free WiFi is available throughout the property and free private parking is available on site. the host Lily is soo friendly and helpful, I really appreciated that. She helped me organizing a tour to the desert with an amazing guide, I could stay one more night without problems and also the rest of the staff is really nice. the room was clean and the bed comfortable, it has AC, breakfast included and there is also a pool. I definitely recommend staying here!

Conveniently situated 20 minutes away in a tuk tuk to Tatacoa Desert and 5 minutes to one of the surrounding astronomical observatories, this beautiful and quiet hotel was a brilliant stay in Villavieja. Friendly staff who emulate the openness and kindness of the rest of the small town, this place had a lovely clean pool, room and working air conditioning which is important in the humidity of the area. And fantastic breakfasts!

John is by far the most friendly host we’ve ever met. He responds quick, is very kind and helps to make the best out of your trip in Tatacoa. The dinner and breakfast are very tasty, the location in the desert is magic and his 2 dogs are lovely as well. In addition to this, he can arrange a guide for both the red and the grey desert and this guide is very good as well, definately don’t skip the grey part of the desert, it’s beautiful and if you are lucky like us, you can spot a lot of animals! We give John a 10+!

You honestly couldn't ask for better people. The staff were muy amable (gentle, kind, helpful). The hostel is local, thoughtfully put together and in an awesome location. We walked to the observatory and a local restaurant, that is, when we weren't eating Norma's amazing food the hostel. Also, is as advertised. So, yes, it's rustic. This isn't a luxury stay. The place runs on solar power, which they save up during the day so that the guests can have the fans running at night. The bathrooms are a bit dingy but they are clean. Having a local experience with such warm people more than made up for the loss of a few creature comforts. Maul gave us a tour of both deserts and he was energetic, friendly, and super knowledgeable. If you don't have any Spanish language, you probably won't get the full experience here, but there were several guests with virtually no Spanish and the staff still went out of their way to ensure a pleasant stay.
